About Me I am a cotton trader by profession but a cricketer by heart.
Cricket is my first love. I used to play competitive till college days however did not make the cut in Gujarat Selections and have now resorted to punching the pillows and discussing and blogging while matches go on television.
Since a year I have been blogging and am loving this whole experience. I was recently interviewed by Blog adda here : http://blog.blogadda.com/2009/09/10/interview-with-hitchwriter
I am the most fanatic RCB fan because... I love challenges, there is no greater joy than overcoming challenges. Our team from the bottom 2 last year rose like a phoenix from the ashes and took up the challenge and landed in a final in which ideally no team deserved to lead. Jumbo that day just showed why he is a real Life Legend !!! Unfortunately they didnt cross the final hurdle.. but its a sport and one team had to lose.. !!!
Fighting spirit, Steel, Grit is what our team epitomised and I can relate to it. I love RCB simply for the sheer combativeness shown by the entire team last year. I am one of the biggest admirers of Anil Kumble who has largely not got his due. He is India's great Match Winner ever by a distance... !!!
I hope to be as fanatic about RCB as I am about India !!!
Strategy Map for RCB - Airtel Champions LeagueMy preferred line up : Manish Pandey
Jacques Kallis
Rahul Dravid
Kevin Pietersen
Robin Uthappa
Virat Kohli
RVD Merwe
Anil Kumble
Praveen Kumar
Akhil Kumar
Dale Steyn
Ross Taylor
why do I prefer this line up : I think this is probably the best line up where there is very strong batting and a strong bowling attack as well. I would love to get Ross Taylor in but only 4 foreign players allowed and dont want to drop Kallis or Steyn.
This team is not just batting strong but also has a very strong new ball attack with spin in Kumble and Merwe.. plus we have potentially a lot of guys who can be pushed up the order. Personally I dont think Uthappa and Kohli have performed to their potential.. or else this can be the most explosive batting line up.
Just think Manish and Kallis opening.. in case there is an early wicket we have Rahul, in case there is a long partnership.. we can send in KP ahead.. and accelerate... with Robin and Kohli very well capable to weild the long handle.. also Merwe can do the same.
A lot of times I felt Bangalore team fast bowling is not upto scratch but if we can have Steyn fit and firing with Praveen Kumar with the new ball it would be a good attack... Kumar always does a bit with the new ball. Kallis is my first change bowler. with two spinners to fall back upon.
My opening match strategy: It depends on the pitch largely. However generally in India the thumb rule is to bat first.
So for the opening match against the cobra's if we win the toss we must elect to bat first, also send De-Merwe up as the pinch hitter if we lose an early wicket to utilise the power play, if the power plays are over then I would stick with the batting order... and preserve De-Merwe, Uthappa & Kohli for wielding the long handle in the last 5 overs..
For bowling in bangalore I would open with Steyn from one end and Pravin Kumar from the other, he always does something with the new ball so I would infact bowl him out with the new bowl.
In case the pitch is slow opening the bowling with Anil Kumble is also an option...
My best T20 match:
India Vs Australia. The reason this match is my favourite because of the intensity this match produced. Even in most 20-20 matches the intensity wavers at times. But in this high tension drama the amount of energy the players put in.. the raw passion, aggression and the fearlessness that the young Indian team showed against the world Champions on a Durban track (the fastest in Africa) make no mistake about it was unbelievable. !! This match convinced me that 20-20 is here to stay. The cricket we saw in this match was simply ELECTRIC !!! Both teams going for broke.. both teams throwing punches with full steam at each other... !! The Indians by far out gunned the Aussies on the day... The atmosphere of that match, the electricity, the intensity of that match was simply amazing !!! If any team plays with the intensity the Indian team played that day it would be very difficult to beat. He is the best for the job because he knows his job well. His wit, his spontaneity and his style is simply inimitable. Having him as the chief blogger for the RCB means RCB will have an asset with them. His blog is a wonderful representation of what his writing is all about. I usually do not follow cricket but his blog makes it highly interesting for me.zinggymumhitchy by the end of a long rope is most suitable for this job. there is no doubt about it. he eats, drinks and sleeps (oh he sometimes gets up in the middle of the night to write his blogs be it cricket, food, trips, photography....) cricket and blogs. he has this natural flair for writing and that too straight from the heart. he has won few blog awards too for his writng.... and i am sure he will be an asset to RCB team if selected.vimThere is no point in having a contest for this when you have the best man for the job. Hitchy, according to me and many others, is the most eligible person for this position. Cricket and blogging are two of his addictions; and given a chance for him to choose between those addictions and his family, he would for sure choose the former. His posts are filled with humor and he writes it sincerely, from the bottom of his heart. His posts also reflect the kind of person that he is- compassionate, level headed and humble. Hitchy, you rock !gopinathmHitchwriter is very passionate about blogging and cricket! His blogging style is amazing, he interacts with all fellow bloggers and has become very popular in what he calls the "blog samaj". The passion and knowledge of cricket us displays are above par and we all hope he gets the job!rakeshcaAs per a survey, Humour and Cricket are the two most blogged topics in India. Ok I agree, I made that up but I guess if a survey was conducted, this would be true and Hitchwriter's blog would feature at the top of these two categories. So who else then HW to add some zing to the most boring team in the IPL. I mean, seriously, what did you expect with Rahul Dravid in your T20 team? The only good thing about RCB is Vijay Mallya, Katrina Kaif, Kingfisher Beer and now Hitchwriter (If he becomes your blogger that is) :) Further, I'll let you in on a secret. Hitchwriter doesn't drink but he really wants to be drunk one day. So what better than having him as a blogger with a promise that if RCB wins, he'll definitely get drunk on Kingfisher - the world's best beer :) His journey through the series Plus his personal journey towards getting drunk would be a funny combination to read about!!!MeiraAn ardent cricket fan (who probably talks cricket in his dreams) A zealous blogger (who has his readers checking his blog 10 times a day) That is Hitchwriter for you. Determined and intense in his writing, he weaves a certain charm with his words, that jumps out and engrosses you, post after post. He brings a wealth of blogging experience and Cricket knowledge to the table. He is THE man for this job!ugichRCB, Hitchwriter is the person for you. You cant do better than appoint him your Chief Blogger. He is a serious dedicated cricket person, who writes very well, and also has great interpersonal skills in communication. A blog has to draw you to it again and again. A person must have the expertise to know what people want to read and how it must be presented. The RCB will totally benefit if they appoint Hitchwriter the Chief Blogger.msd29Hitchwriter (or Hitchu as he is fondly known) is who we can safely refer to as an encyclopedia of cricket. Being a cricket fanatic myself, I've had several discussions with him on blogs about cricket and I must admit, the man is a great student of the game. His knowledge, understanding and passion is second to none. Add to that his sharp sense of humor and unique writing style, what do you get? The perfect chief blogger for the BRC!!! And not just cricket, he is a keen follower of many other sports and that helps him give a more holistic view (like an alrounders view) to the gave he really loves - Cricket. Note to the selection panel: Don't let this guy go. Or you'll never know what you've missed.shraddhaHitch and I are bloggy friends. He displays a perfect analogy of two of his most cherished passions – Blogging and Cricket. Be it his down to-the-detail dissection of matches, strategies, what works and what doesn’t… to the talent of not just blogging, but also having fellow blogger hooked on to his space, he works magic. It’s not just enough to be fanatic, it speaks a lot when the person is standing by his team even when the chips are down. And Hitchwriter is all of it!! I think he uses two of his passions to fuel each other – his blogposts reflect his love and understanding of cricket, and cricket fuels interesting discussions at his blog!! If passion drives performance, I think you’ve got a raring-to-go performer on hand!aaniketVery spontaneous answers,,, Can relate the situation with history ,,, Can get angry and shout loudly ,,,, Can get nervous,,, Can encourage ,,, because he is not only Hitchwriter but Hit cri writer Paka cricketer …. Cheers!anroshA spirited and a witty blogger, Hitchwriter will blow your socks of with his knowledge of history, geography and economics of the game.DestinationInfinityIts very rare to find two passions in one blogger - Hitch writer is passionate about both cricket and writing (blogging). I have sometimes wondered how some one can write about a couple of tied test matches with so much passion and sustain the interest of the readers with his gripping and mind blowing description! Reading it makes you feel as if you are following the match live right now! If you are already surprised, he had announced the result before the description and then created that feeling among the readers - that's what I call taking up a royal challenge!patriciatorresHitchwriter is as passionate about cricket as he is with his writing & photography. His blog is by far the best on blogsphere!! His style of writing is intriguing, engaging, interesting, humurous.... and keeps me constantly checkign his blog for more!!!
