IPL 2011
The IPL 2011 was back in the news when they announced the auction date as 2011 Jan 8 & 9. The IPL Governing Council also announced that a franchise can only retain 4 players and that also comes with a cost. There will be salary cap of $ 9 Million. The First Player retained will cost team $ 1.8 Million, Second Player will cost $ 1.3 Million, Third player will cost $ 900,000, Fourth Player will cost $ 500,000.
The IPL 2011 season starts on 8th April 2011, just six days after the Cricket World Cup 2011. While the IPL 2011 is set to end on 22nd May 2011. The opening ceremony will be held on 7th April.
The format more or less remains the same.
There will total of 60 matches played by eight teams
Play-offs based on league standings
The two semi-finals will be played between
Play off 1: Team 1 vs Team 2
Play off 2: Team 3 Vs Team 4
Winner of Play Off 1 goes through to the Final
Prelim Final: Loser of Play Off 1 vs Winner of Play Off 2
Grand Final : Winner of Play Off 1 vs Winner of Prelim Final
