A word from the Blogger Jury Panel

(1) The Internal Jury's decision regarding the shortlisted 27 remains FINAL.
(2) I am posting the below on behalf of the Blogger Jury Panel.

===========================================

Going by the magical response to the call for applications, we must say that Club Royal Challengers has a fantastic fan following.

We have read through multiple queries, complaints and suggestions, and here is our take on it.

For starters, we looked at number of votes but ones with pictures had more influence on our mind as evidence of quality. We looked for quality testimonials too, but did not penalize anyone for the "I have voted for you.. so please vote for me" syndrome. Cricketing acumen counted a lot - but not to the extent of spell checks, correct names of the players, availability of players in the tournament etc. We were also aware that picking and correctly naming 12 from among 40 registered players of Royal Challengers, was just a Google away.

What gave maximum mileage to your application, was:

(a) the style of writing - whether the copy was good and fun to read. IN our humble opinion, a good blogger demonstrate evidence of understanding the strategies of cricket and translating a cricket match into a fantastic read-worthy article, without suffering from too much of "paralysis by analysis".

(b) ability to express the passion of our Club with dignity - We carefully read through the non-cricketing blog posts of the contenders and we believe that we discovered some of the best bloggers who love Club Royal Challengers Bangalore and are crazy not only about cricket but also about the blogging syndrome.

We have been relaxed about player's names to make room for raw talent. It is again our humble opinion that the names of players did not warrant a disqualification. Certainly these applicants will be monitored and mentored for future phases. We also have an internal short-list of potential bloggers who can help us during the rest of our journey. We will also be looking for people with positive attitude, who are willing to go the extra mile, and enjoy the journey with us as Champions League unfolds.

I am the original BRC fan hailing from the state. However, I am new to this website. I think I narrowly missed participating in this great competition. Will do amends next year if such competitions are repeated. I am sure with my knowledge of the game, playing experience of T20 games and writing ability (not to forget the RC and KF brand following!), will be there with Jammy & Jumbo (the combination is my nick name by the way) next year, God willing.

On the competition, its a must that the participants should know details of each and every player in the team. There is no team without these players. Why just players, they should also know the management and preparation team (the coaches, physio etc). The organisers of the event should check all round abilities of the fans - may be in the next year.

Top notch improvers to the shorter form of the game - Dravid, Kallis & Kumble and talented youngsters - Kohli, Pandey, Akhil, Vinay and the gifted Roelof bodes well for the team. I only wish there was Shreevats Goswami instead of Boucher in the team. I feel Goswami is a great young talent, an opener and good keeper too.

@Vijayrox As a photographer, you know that there are many many different types of photography. Landscape, nature, wildlife... portraits, still life and so on. How do you compare a photo of a rose to a photo of sunset? Can't say one is better than the other, both are art.

To start with, let me mention that I didnot apply for any of the positions. But I count myself to be the greatest fanatic RCB fan, have spent sleepless nights last two seasons exchanging opinions with other fanatic fans, on this very site. Sometimes it feels those days were better, we only discussed cricket and RCB...

@ Nidhi, can not agree with the fact that players' names were given lesser weightage. If you love RCB, you got to love its players too...or at least, put a little effort to know their names!

That apart, the whole concept of "Fanatic Fans" is such a refreshing idea! Whoever came up with this concept...take a bow! And we must admire Nidhi and Sandip for the way they have communicated with the fans all throughout. And now, it is amazing that they are trying to clarify each and every question from the frustrated fans. Inspite of all their mistakes (which they openly admit), shall we for once say "thank you" for all their efforts?!

I hope this storm settles down soon and we get back to discussing winning strategies for our beloved RCB. Can't wait for 8th Oct and can't wait for RCB to kill the Cobras!

@Raghav Not sure if this topic needs any further discussion. All questions have been asked; all available answers have been given; mistakes have been admitted; rationalizations, where required have been made; contenders have been informed; also rans have been shown the place; that the decision is FINAL has been communicated; the topic has been beaten to death and laid to rest; you should let them carry on with their next phase activities.

Wiat for the first match;

At the end of the day, one has to recognize that fans (especially Chief FAN) and Chief Blogger cannot make a material impact on the outcome of the match! It is only a personal, intellectual gratification that can be achieved. I guarantee you, your own family may not read your blog after the first one!

@ Nidhi: This exercise will only make each of us wiser. Bouncers, beamers and some that swung too late. Not too bad a preparation for the budding talents. And what an advantage to have fans who understand their Cricket, are passionate for Royal Challengers and are willing to engage in a battle of wits to prove their stand? Let us march forward with a collective belief that we have the ability to express, humbleness to learn and will to influence the way our fans look at the Team RCB. Love, Peace & Energy :)

@Nidhi don't get me wrong here!!!! I know all;s done! the 27 people are already selected and i congratulate them.!!
Seeing this post of yours i just felt, this is sure to create more controversy and it certainly wil!

" We have been relaxed about player's names to make room for raw talent ".

People who dont know the players that constitute the RCB team have no work on this site, forget applying for Chief Blogger!

"We were also aware that picking and correctly naming 12 from among 40 registered players of Royal Challengers, was just a Google away."

If it was a Google away, why dint they bother to do it???
Because, they have no idea about the team announced for CLT20!
