AB De Villiers
Abraham Benjamin De Villiers, the protean from Pretoria celebrates his 27th birthday today. He is one of the most gifted cricketers ever, who is very much at ease against the pace and the spin. A golfer, tennis player, rugby player and of course a cricketer, De Villiers is good at whatever he does.
Consistency and fluency in his batting is an area he has explored so well. The commitment and dedication to his team is reflected in the fact that he has readily donned the pads and gloves to allow his team play an extra player. This ever smiling player has a magnificent mix of aggression and caution in his stroke play. While he is steadily climbing the rankings across various formats, he never forgets to treat his fans with highly attractive shots. Though he still has lot of cricket left in him, he already holds various records under his name. He holds the record for most test innings without a duck (78), Highest individual score by a South African in test innings (278*), amongst many others. He has 12 Test centuries & 9 ODI Centuries under his belt with highest ODI score of 146 vs West Indies. He is also the second youngest and second fastest South African batsman to reach 1000 Test runs. AB De Villiers also has a century in IPL against Chennai Super Kings to his credit.
Much of the South African dreams would rest on AB if they are to get rid of the ‘Chokers’ tag. While there players like Jacques Kallis and Hashim Amla, who can consolidate the innings, the proteans will depend on AB to gain momentum to their innings with his attacking flair. For Royal Challengers of Bangalore, He is clearly an asset. For, if his talent was not enough, he has forever been a team man, always cheering up the mood in the dressing room. Not many know that De Villiers writes songs and plays the guitar too.
Every Cricket fan would be rearing to watch AB in action in the upcoming World Cup. RCB again wishes this cricketer much more success in coming years on eve of his birthday.
They, along with the fab members of the Fan Advisory Board, plot new schemes to engage with fans and trouble shoot their problems.
