Can the Royal Challengers Players Steal the Spotlight in this year’s Ranji Trophy also?
The 2009-2010 Ranji Trophy Tournament ended in a style. It was a nail biting finish where Mumbai won narrowly against Karnataka by a margin of 6 runs.
The RCB players stole the lime light in the tournament. The star Royal Challengers batsman Manish Pandey scored 882 runs in 9 matches (14inns) playing for Karnataka and was the highest run scorer last Ranji season. In the process he hit four centuries and four half centuries at an average of 63. His personal best last season was 194
Another RCB player who stole the limelight was the new ball bowler Vinay Kumar who took 46 wickets 8 matches with an economy rate of 3.03. He was the second highest wicket taker in last season. The highest wicket taker was his Bowling partner at Karnataka, A.Mithun who took 47 wickets from 9 matches another Royal Challenger.
With the 2010-2011 Ranji Trophy started, Royal Challenger players are already in the action. RCB new ball bowler Praveen Kumar took 5/72 for Uttar Pradesh against Punjab to restrict them for 288 runs. He also scored a brisk 36 to help his team get the lead. Another young lad in action is our own Virat Kohli who is batting at 124 (not out) against Bengal. In the same match Shreevats Goswami scored 68 to stitch an opening century partnership for his team. The prospect looks great from here for the RCB heroes.
With Karnataka starting their campaign against Punjab on 10th Nov, more RCB players like Rahul Dravid, Manish Pandey, Vinay Kumar will be in the spot light.
So can the Royal Challengers players steal the lime light in this season also???
