Pujara and Zak are back!
Two of our favourite Indian heavyweights, Cheteshwar Pujara and Zaheer Khan have been out of action for months following major injuries but there's good news, they'll be making a return to action soon in Domestic cricket.
Cheteshwar Pujara's troubles started when he injured his knee during RCB’s 2011 IPL campaign and had to undergo surgery on it. Zaheer Khan broke down with a hamstring injury on the very first day of India’s tour of England in the Test at Lord’s after which he had to have an operation on his ankle putting him out of action for 5 months.
Pujara missed out on India’s tour of the West Indies (which was a boon in a way because Virat replaced him there), the England tour and home Tests against WI. But now that he has been cleared to play for his Ranji team Saurashtra by the National Cricket Academy (Bangalore), we're sure he'll send notice of his return to the selectors soon.
Zak on the other hand is a provisional inclusion for the tour down under. That means he has to prove his fitness in two Ranji games for Mumbai, against Orissa at Cuttack from Nov 29th and against Saurashtra in Rajkot on December 6th in order to get on the plane to Australia.
Pujara's comeback game will be against no other team but Karnataka at Bangalore on Nov 29th so please make sure you go to M Chinnaswamy Stadium and cheer our boy! His second game as per the schedule is at Rajkot on Dec 6th but you may want to follow it, because he'll be facing up to Zak in it, giving both sides the RCB flavour.
An immovable run machine, an unstoppable thinking pace bowler and a return to the Indian team at stake, what more can you want from a match?
