They came, they saw and they danced!
IPL 2013 has not been short of fun and excitement for fans because apart from the huge fours and sixes, they have also witnessed cricketers putting on their dancing shoes to celebrate and share their joy with audiences across the world.
So here is a list of cricketers who have entertained fans both young and old alike with a flashy step or two in IPL 2013!
1) Chris Gayle
Starting off with the man who started it all!
Chris Gayle, who made the popular ‘Gangnam’ style dance an even bigger rage during IPL 2013, was seen dancing around the field after the fall of almost every important wicket.
It all started against the Pune Warriors when Gayle had the Chinnaswamy crowd rooting for him, thanks to his impressive dance steps and hilarious antics on the field after dismissing AG.Murtaza and IC Pandey in the final over.
That match saw Gayle win the match as well as people’s hearts for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, as was evident during his light hearted banter with Ashok Dinda at the end of the match.
2) Darren Sammy
Up next is Gayle’s West Indian skipper Darren Sammy.
Sammy who is equally renowned for his Calypso styled dance steps did the ‘Pacifier’ to celebrate wickets and catches for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2013.
He wore a baby’s ‘pacifier’ on a chain around his neck during matches and sucked on it while mimicking rocking a baby, dedicating the comical celebration to his new born daughter Skai.
3) Dwayne Bravo
At number three on this list is yet another West Indian.
This time it is Dwayne Bravo who can give even the Chennai Super Kings’ cheerleaders a complex thanks to his impressive dancing skills.
Bravo, who has had an exceptional season for Chennai so far in IPL 2013 had the crowds going crazy with his superb dance steps on field after every important wicket, hence proving that he can swing it both ways, with the ball as well as with some jazzy dance moves!
4) Harbhajan Singh
And in number four comes Harbhajan Singh!
Harbhajan, who plays for the Mumbai Indians showed that he can match steps with the best when he did his own version of the ‘Bhangnam’ style.
Harbhajan broke into an impromptu hilarious jig at the Wankhede Stadium after dismissing Chris Gayle. The next time he did the ‘Bhangnam’ was after hitting the winning runs for Mumbai in Pune, prompting Yuvraj Singh to mock wrestle him to the ground while the crowd laughed their guts out.
5) Adam Gilchrist
Up next is an unlikely candidate in the form of the legendary Adam Gilchrist!
Gilchrist, who was playing his final IPL game against the Mumbai Indians at Dharamsala decided to bowl the final over as Kings XI Punjab virtually had the match in their bag.
Harbhajan Singh slogged wildy, first ball off Gilchrist’s off spin and was caught by Gurkeerat Singh at long on prompting the veteran Aussie to break into the ‘Gangnam style’ jig.
Gilchrists’ impromptu dance was well received by both the crowd and his team mates as he finished his IPL career with a maiden wicket as well as a dance!
6) Brad Hodge
Rajasthan Royals were playing the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their ‘Eliminator’ match and Brad Hodges’ big hitting had ensured that Rajasthan took the game to the final over.
In came Darren Sammy to bowl with all pressure was on Hodge to get the required 10 runs off the last over.
But the Aussie turned into an overnight hero as he smashed two consecutive sixes off Sammy and clinched the game for Rajasthan.
Hodge did his own version of the ‘Pacifier’, a football styled ‘Baby Rocking’ celebration, which left the Rajasthan fans cheering on for more!
He, along with the fab members of the Fan Advisory Board, plot new schemes to engage with fans and trouble shoot their problems.
