Discover Durban with RCB: Rules revised

We know that this is coming a late but we are repairing the damage and clearing out the air about the rules on this contest.

As Nidhi said in her blog-post, we've identified what we did fundamentally wrong and here is how we are going about correcting it now.

Here goes. Revised Rules:
1. The winners of the Discover Durban with RCB contest will be selected on the basis of recommendations from 'Genuine Old fans on the site' and not new fans who sign up on the site only to vote. We are doing this because we want to know how much fans enjoyed what you did on the site.
2. New fans recommendations automatically do not count in this process as they do not know about when the content was posted or enjoyed or participated in it and therefore cannot comment.
3. Only fans who have been available at the club to view content posted by fans during 1st March 2010 - 24th August 2010 will be eligible to vote - i.e. only those recommendations will be counted. We will be checking the recommendations that come in to see when these fans have signed up and if they are new fans/old fans on the site.
4. The Community Managers will be monitoring the entire process as we know the success of the activities conducted and the effort that has gone into putting it together too. We want to ensure that loyal, active, fanatic fans win.

In the comments section if you need any further clarifications on the rules.

Best Wishes,
Community Manager

http://www.royalchallengers.com/blog/discover-durban-with-rcb-selecting-the-winners/

" Also request all of you to ensure that you have your passports ready. We will be announcing the winners to the contest on the 3rd of September and on the same day itself we will need the winners to send across their passport and necessary documents "

I thought the results were to be announced today.. It's 10 PM, Will it be announced midnight? Fingers crossed. All the best to everybody who applied!
KunJan on 03 Sep 2010, 09:54 PM
I can understand what you mean Sachin.. It's true...
allen-abhishek on 03 Sep 2010, 09:52 PM
I am a firm believer that the work one has done should always stand out, it should be upto the person who is writing to present his work. This happens anywhere these days, in your school, in your work you need to tell about yourself.

Well i also believe that recos are good but are not the 'the all and end all' thing. A person X may like my contributions very much but he just writes ' Good Job' and a person Y who likes some of my work but not all can tell ' Waw you contributed well in that area'. How does any one read from these two recos, which is good, which is great.

@Rakesh, "(My suggestions : Do consider the content of application not just references)
A very good suggestion indeed, but I just wanna think again... Is this a Blogging contest again???
All who are logged in here aren't very good writers :) There are some exceptions like me who cannot write as good as you :) So does that mean I don't stand a chance to WIN ? :(
allen-abhishek on 03 Sep 2010, 08:17 PM
Yeah I do agree buddy.. But I still don't agree that just references can make one applicant eligible to win it. Want something more.. As raghu sir mentioned like counting worthy comments, blogs and ones work it had to be decided. If it was done in that way the contest would have got greater meaning. :) But as the rules have already been set up and cannot be twisted so much.. So I suggested this way buddy.

Raghunathji..
I am not pointing out any body.In past also this site had some hassles and I accept the people as they are and I agree with you on some points...
I dont want to say much as I had seen best of cricket in my childhood days and in college days..

I would not have stayed for so long if I would not have passion for cricket..
I do not have anything against any one..for sure..!

I suggested here some points so that RCB people have not to spend so much energy on other things

One may differ as we are different..You are right..

it is a good post Raghuji...from you..I appreciate...
Cheer..

New FF should win this contest not the same person who won FF2
Let everyone should get chance and experience the awesome match :-)))
Rockky on 03 Sep 2010, 03:55 PM
@Arunaji

Since I opted out of the contest (and then made noise), I can tell you from a "neutral" perspective - your level of passion is different from our level of passion. For you, interest in blogging led you to this site. So you are looking at fulfilling your objective in peace and harmony, without troubling others. Fair enough.

Not everyone has come to this site with the same objective as yours.

To give you an example, when a person is being 'harmed' on the street, different types of people pass by. Some are passive onlookers, some are angry onlookers, some will intervene and try to help and fail. But the strongest response will come from the ones who are blood relatives of the person being harmed. They will be prepared for a 'do or die' battle.

For some of us, keen interest in cricket, passion for RCB and our heroes, etc led to this site. That's why we feel we are "blood relatives" of RCB!

You are most welcome to be one and be like us! You don't have to live in Bengaluru for you to be 'welcomed' into our stream. All are welcome -passion for Cricket, T20 and RCB are the only qualifications!

We also want peace and harmony - like life on the cricinfo website.
Raghunath on 03 Sep 2010, 02:20 PM
for future contests...RCB should take into account the behaviour of a fan or fanatic fan..on this site...red flag will help us to locate a person who is making this site full of chaos..its my humble request...!

We want this site hassle free...and clean, of course...!
lotuspetals on 03 Sep 2010, 12:18 PM
Thanks for the heads up Rakesh. We will ensure we keep everyone happy with the results this time.. We just want to see you all smiling.. :)
natasha@RCB on 03 Sep 2010, 11:59 AM
An Argument with Rakesh (Just an argument, nothing personal bro), Why should the content between the 1st of March and current be considered when people like me, Disha, Raghunath and a few others have been on the site, since it's inception? We have done a lot of work offline, and like I said, I've never really had the skills to author a good cricket blog.. That means we don't stand a chance? That rule according to me should never be looked at.. It should be *work* that you have done for the community both offline and online!

Kunal
PS: Lets only argue on this offline, bcos that discussion if done online will only erk more controversy! :)
KunJan on 03 Sep 2010, 11:13 AM
Natasha I would like to suggest you some more points during selection. So that nothing goes wrong..

Keep all the rules in your mind. And don't break even a single rule u have mentioned.

U said March 1st to august 24th.(Don't Forget)
U asked ppl to post links of their works.
Confirm that they have all the documents.

(My suggestions : Do consider the content of application not just references. People like Kunjan and many others will be disappointed for writing so much)
rakesh-katti on 03 Sep 2010, 02:10 AM
great fix up :)
disha-shetty on 02 Sep 2010, 09:47 PM
Very good, now the Loyal Challengers have more of a chance to go to SA! ;)
nakul-kamath on 02 Sep 2010, 07:22 PM
you are all welcome! :)

Natasha

Thanks for listening to the voices of the fans and quick action. Way2Go!

I am not against "marketing campaigns - including via gimmicks" but it has to be clearly and upfront declared as such. I am sure many fans here will be happy to participate so tha they get a chance to win a jersey - even if it means competing with fake fans. And those who don't like it can choose to stay away from it.

If the community is to be a success, the objective of each campaign has to be clearly outlined.

In general, it is OK for the "jersey contests" to be marketing campaigns. Reserve the IPL and CLT Chiefs positions for "genuine, proven, loyal RCB Fans with a track record - merely having a 1 year old login ID or "exceptional skills" will not suffice. And set up a backend mechanism to identify and reject "professional blood donor" votes in every contest.

:)
Raghunath on 02 Sep 2010, 05:48 PM
too late for me, i gave up on it :) but this sounds like a great fix. now that i know my vote counts, i'd do good to my fav candidates, yay!
Nilesh-Hiray on 02 Sep 2010, 03:32 PM
I wish you had put: Discover Durban with RCB: Voting is not the decider! as the header to this post, but it clears the air nonetheless. Now all eyes will focus on who the final 3 will be :)
KunJan on 02 Sep 2010, 01:47 PM
