Goof ups aside, new winner declared.
Based on the feedback received via comments, emails and discussion forum threads, it has come to our notice that many of you are a bit disturbed by the IPL Review Phase 2 winners’ selection.
The judges and community managers discussed your points, the contest rules and the reasons behind selecting Faruk's review as runner up #2. The intentions behind his review being selected were genuine and I believe justified (see message at end of post). However at the end of the day, this is an RCB Fan Club, and we did specify we were looking for analysis of RC's performance. Oh Faruk, if you had but made one reference to RCB! Named but one player..!
So here's what we're going to do.
We goofed up - but it's unfair for anyone to pay the price of our mistake. We still appreciate Faruk's review and so we will recognize it not as runner up #2 but as an 'Out of the Box Review' and will be sending him a RC poster for the same (Faruk, you can think of it as an apology for bringing you into such heated spotlight).
The Winner (Sachin) and 1st runner up (Jackky) remain the same. Runner up #2 is (surprise!) Umesh. Read his review here.
Why is it Umesh and not one of the special mentions? Read his review, you'll find a smile on your face. As a result of it's brevity, the language and the style.

WHY FARUK'S REVIEW STANDS OUT
As usual the judges were looking for articles which are of out of the box thinking. During the Phase 1 selection was done primarily on talented write-ups and cricketing strategies, the Phase II was done primarily based on the spirit of writing the reviews, keeping an eye on the overall and the bigger picture of IPL. While some of the reviews received were way off the mark, we must say, that many of them were really good. We wouldn’t like to name all of them, but there were some few who thought out of the box and gave a different take on the performance charts.
So, while to most, it was Royal Challengers which mattered (which it should be), the judges thought, how about honouring a write-up which dared to think differently though being a RC fan. There was only one write-up which dared to give an overall picture of the IPL and not only that of Team RC’s. Most of you must be thinking, how preposterous can hat be! It was not in the rule book! But that’s exactly why rules are made - to be followed and somewhere tweaked a little to bring out something new amidst the other followers. That’s why Faruk stood out. His was a out of blue review which opened a new horizon which said in bold letters – We RC Fans are much open minded than looking at only our shortcomings and view the others through the birds eye.

If quality doesnt guarantee a win....how bad shoud we get to win?
