India's preliminary World Cup squad
India have named it's Preliminary squad of 30 players for 2011 Cricket World Cup. Apart from the omission of the 37-year-old Dravid, who has not played an ODI since September last year, and Pathan, on the sidelines since February 2009 in ODIs, there aren't any surprise selections. Mumbai middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane is the only uncapped player to be included in India's 30-member preliminary World Cup squad.
The batting list expectedly features Tendulkar, Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.
The 22-year-old Pujara along with Virat Kohli are among the youngsters picked in at least the preliminary squad.
The bowling line-up is also on the expected lines with the pace attack led by Zaheer Khan featuring Ashish Nehra, S Sreesanth, Munaf Patel and Ishant Sharma.
The spin department has the experienced Harbhajan Singh along with Amit Mishra, Piyush Chawla, Pragyan Ojha and R Ashwin.
Apart from Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the probables list has three other wicketkeepers in Parthiv Patel, Wriddhiman Saha and Dinesh Karthik.
The squad would be pruned to half by next month and chairman of selectors

I Strongly believe that Team India are favorites for WC2011.
Experience, Consistency, Fitness is must for a PLAYER to be a PART OF WORLD CUP TEAM.
Sadly, Dravid is not among 30 Probables. I wish to see him driving Team India to grab World Title.
Vote for Dravid at ESPN Poll Vote Here.
Voting should be introduced, to know public opinion on players participating in World Cup. And public voices should be made heard. Because every Indian has right to put his/her views.
The page presents a sort of that. Support Team India click on the link.
Thank you INDIA, and see you LIFTING WC2011.
Count down starts now, THIS IS A WORLD CUP REVOLUTION
Jai Hind..
Thank you :)
Yuvraj has been a more established matchwinner who has performed consistently over the past 10 years. It is only in the last year that his performances dipped and his problems were compounded by fitness issues. Everyone is hoping that he will work his way out of the slump.
Jadeja is in the list to fulfil a different role as that of an all-rounder (who ideally helps maintain team balance). As we all know that India has been trying to find a replacement for Kapil Dev for the past 18 years. Even though Jadeja falls way short of what is expected of him, there seems to be a dearth of all-rounders in the country which seems to work in favor of Jadeja.
Uthappa definitely has match-winning potential but has been kind of inconsistent and has been a victim of poor shot-selection thereby causing his own downfall. But in the past 1-2 years, he has come up with some real good performances both in IPL and other domestic cricket that should have been considered by the selectors. Considering he is also a much improved part-time wicket keeper, he could have been named instead of one of Parthiv/Saha/Dinesh Karthik. One of these 3 even has a good chance of making it to the final 15 as a stand-by wkt keeper as a cover for Dhoni and will get to play in final XI only if Dhoni gets injured. Otherwise, they will be with the team "Just for Jolly". Uthappa instead of one of them would have provided an explosive middle-order option coupled with his wkt keeping skills. Another point is that in the unforeseen event of 2 of the 3 openers(sachin/sehwag/Gambhir) getting injured, he can open the batting also (he has done that before).
But Yes, If Robin continues to work hard and performs consistently in the domestic circuit/IPL etc., he can make sure that it becomes difficult for selectors to overlook him in the future.
Didn't the selectors see he is better than PARTHIV PATEL OR R JADEJA OR YUVRAJ SINGH????? Aren't they being unfair with him by overlooking????
