Karun Nair – An upcoming talent

royal challengers

All of 21, the prodigious Karun Nair is already making news in Karnataka’s domestic circuit with his impressive batting performances.

Nair, a right-hand batsman is yet to make his first-class debut but has been regularly featuring in Karnataka’s List A sides. In the recently concluded Safi Darashah All India tournament, Nair had a terrific run of form for the KSCA Secretary’s XI. Promoted to captaincy, the youngster led by example, scoring a stupendous double hundred (256 344b, 20x4, 7x6) against Andhra CA that took his side to a massive 479/9 in 119 overs.

In the quarter-final encounter against Assam CA, Nair starred with a crucial 97 off 101 balls to help his side book a place in the semi-final.

Chasing a mighty total of 567 against defending champions KSCA XI in the semis, the Secretary’s XI pulled off a miraculous victory, thanks to a huge 237-run 1st wicket stand between Mayank Agarwal and Nair that set the tone for the chase. Nair, who struck yet another hundred, (104, 120B, 16x4) once again played a key role in leading his side to success.

With an insatiable appetite for runs, Karun Nair seems to be an exciting prospect in Karnataka’s cricketing future.
