Preview: India look ahead to a bright English summer

royal challengers
The World Cup in Brazil might be heading towards its culmination but sports enthusiasts need not worry as the 18-men Indian squad is all set for an arduous English summer in a 5-match long Test Series.

After playing two warm up games, the young Indian side will be itching to get into the grind. This will be the first occasion for MS Dhoni and his men to be a part of a 5-match Test series, while their counterparts are familiar with this routine. Team India have not played Tests in recent times; the last Test played by them was almost 5 months ago. Despite that, the team would be keen to begin the tour on the right note and take the momentum forward as they go deeper into the series. England on the other hand, coming off a Test series loss against Sri Lanka, are expected to come out stronger to rattle the visitors.

All eyes will be on India’s poster boy and RCB captain Virat Kohli, who will be eager to prove his mettle in his first Test series in England. Kohli is expected to be the fulcrum in the Indian batting line up and the other batsmen will be expected to play around him. With 6 hundreds already in his 24-match Test career, the RCB captain will look to stamp his authority against the English side in their own backyard.

India are likely to field three pace bowlers in their playing XI, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami being certainties; the Indian think tank will have 4 more options to fill in the vacant space for the third seamer. Speedster Varun Aaron is considered to be one of the prime candidates to start and the young bowler was consistent for RCB in the recently concluded IPL. Furthermore, India should look to field a genuine fast bowler to rattle the opposition in seamer-friendly conditions

Despite the loss against Sri Lanka, Alastair Cook and his men are a terrific side and in favourable conditions, their abilities can help them to outmatch their opponents. By no means will it be any easy tour for the visitors. With Test cricket set to hog the limelight and quality entertainment almost guaranteed, hopefully, Kohli and Aaron can do their bit to lift this young Indian side to put on a stellar show and return home victorious!
