Rahul banks on Zaheer

Former Indian Skipper, Rahul Dravid, praised the Indian team for their incredible effort in the ICC Champions Trophy. In an interview to www.NDTV.com, he said that the team had put together a great performance, had the 'right balance' and did not panic at crucial junctures. The fielding of the current cricket team was also praised by Rahul. However, while he said that thinking about the next world cup is a distant matter, he added that conditions will change with every tournament and the team must be prepared for it.

Stressing on upcoming tours this year, Dravid emphasized the need for good fast bowlers for India's tour of South Africa that will take place at the end of this year. Getting higher up the order in test rankings is a must and the South African conditions will be conducive for fast bowling. Adding to this, Dravid said, that RCBian Zaheer Khan will be "priceless" for this tour if he can get himself fit for the tour. He also said that since he has a good amount of experience behind him, his addition to the team will be invaluable, but he needs to play a good amount of 4 day cricket before the tour. Earlier, this month, former RCBian Dirk Nannes, also said that he still counts Zaheer Khan as one of the best and potential fast bowlers for the Indian cricket team.
