The journey of a team called RCB
After the IPL Auctions we were one of the many teams who had to start from the scratch. Building the team was the call of the hour. We began our journey on a good note - A win against KTK at their backyard. But then came the setback - Three consecutive loses and the morale of the team was all but down. To add salt to the injury, Dirk Nannes was injured during the game against Mumbai Indians & could not take further participation in IPL.
As you may call it blessing in disguise, a replacement for Nannes arrived in form of the Jamaican Chris Gayle'>Christopher Henry Gayle! And he made his IPL 2011 entry in a grand style! A hundred against KKR and there was no looking back! Sixes & Fours constituted major percentage of his runs & it took just seven matches for him to get hold of the orange cap.And the fun fact is that RCB is yet to lose a match ever since his arrival! Truly a magnificent achievement knowing the unpredictable nature of a T20 game.
But as they say life is not a bed of roses. Just when the team was looking invincible, new skipper of Sri Lankan team TM Dilshan had to leave early for his country duty. But due to some good thinking by the management, we already have brilliant replacements in Luke Pomersbach, Rilee Rossouw & Jonathan Vandiar.
Now with a win against KKR at Bangalore, we have seven consecutive wins on the trot & also become the first IPL team to do so. We are also the first team to advance to the qualifiers! Beyond this success lies the hard work of not players, but the entire coaching & support staff as well. Last but not the least, we have loyal fans who have stood for us not only during our good times but also during bad times as well.
Moving ahead, we would like to continue the momentum going till the goal is not reached. You can keep on supporting the team at http://www.royalchallengers.com/i-support-rcb/thanks or you can also use the Facebook application for colouring your faces in RCB colours.
