The Royal Challengers, ready to Seize the Day!

RCB’s IPL 7 campaign kicks off today against the Delhi Daredevils and the team’s activities at preparation camp all point to a well-tuned, relaxed team confident of turning up the tempo on the big day.

The auction this season saw RCB’s Avengers-like superhero top order add two more heroes in Yuvraj and Albie Morkel. The team relied on the three a lot earlier but now have more than handy back up to come in and have a go.

Camaraderie in the team was natural and the ease with which the new players have gotten along bodes well for Kohli who needs his team to play with absolute cohesion right from the start of the tournament.

The squad has the top batsmen in T20, the world’s greatest spinner and an exciting mix of Indian spinners and fast bowlers. Murali turns 42 today but with his wisdom he still retains as much enthusiasm to train and play as Vijay Zol, half his age.

Daniel Vettori, Allan Donald and Trent Woodhill have worked to create an environment in which players work on their game, back themselves and thrive. It is the kind of relaxed set up that helps players like Yuvraj Singh who is under tremendous pressure to once again prove what he used to prove routinely before.

The way Yuvraj Singh has gelled with the team is exciting to see for fans. He can match Chris Gayle for carnage when he turns it on and that is why Virat considers him the X factor for RCB this season.

Ashok Dinda and Varun Aaron have both played for India while Harshal and Abu Nechim have done well in the IPL and in first class cricket in the past so in addition to Mitchell Starc and Ravi Rampaul, we have a good set of pacers to play. We have Murali to guide and inspire the young Indian spinners besides bag wickets himself so the team is definitely a rounded one.

The conditions in Sharjah are similar to India and the facilities amazing with the practice greens being good enough to play golf on. The team’s unity shows in the training sessions where the drills are hard but the mood is always fun.

Virat laid down the challenge to the team to dream big this season while at the same time stressing on the importance of taking it step by step. Let’s watch the Royal Challengers step up and respond to his call to #SeizeTheDay.
