Boys and Girls, it is time to congratulate our RCB opener and captain of Sri Lanka national cricket team, Tilakaratne Dilshan! for winning the Cricketer of the Year 2011 at the Annual CEAT-SLC Cricket Awards held at Waters Edge, Colombo.

Dilshan scored 552 runs in eight Tests with a career best knock of 193 at Lord’s in June, 2011 while in ODIs, he scored 836 runs in 21 games with three hundreds during the period when performances were considered. He was also named the Best ODI Cricketer, Best ODI All-Rounder and Best ODI Batsman. (The performance of national cricketers from July 2010 to June 2011 was considered for the awards.)
Dilshan is currently the captain of budding cricket team of Sri Lanka. With very young players in the team and transition phase of Cricket for the country, Dilshan is doing a marvelous job of a leader. He is constantly guiding and supporting his team. Learning from failures and moving ahead with positive attitude is the key of his captaincy.
Career highlights: Dilshan made his international debut in 1999 and his scrappiness helped Sri Lanka mount many counterattacks from the middle order. Playing for Delhi Daredevils between 2008 and 2010, his performances in the 2009 IPL covering for the injured Sehwag and Gambhir kick started a purple patch that is still going strong. Inventor of the "dilscoops", he is even more fierce when he is playing as the opener of the team.
In CLT20, 2011: RCB vs SAR: Dilshan slammed a whopping 74 runs from just 47 balls with 9 fours. Those 74 runs were the highest score in the match and very instrumental for our victory and qualify into semi-finals.
We wish him a superb year ahead and may he perform exceptionally well from here too! :) Cheers!
