Unadkat credits IPL for boosted confidence
Saurashtra pacer Jaydev Unadkat has been included in the national squad after 3 years. The first and last time he donned the Indian jersey was in 2010 for a test match against South Africa at the Centurion when he replaced an injured Zaheer Khan.
Three years later, a few IPL’s old and with some great domestic and club records in his kitty, Jaydev is all set to return to the Indian side in the ODI squad against Zimbabwe in the upcoming bilateral series.
Fellow RCBian and Saurashtra team-mate, Cheteshwar Pujara, is also a part of India’s squad to Zimbabwe. This, he feels, is a huge support for him as he considers Cheteshwar one of his closest friends whom he looks to for advice. RCB Captain Virat Kohli is going to lead the team and colleague Vinay Kumar is also part of the 15 member squad.
Jaydev Unadkat had a good run in Pepsi IPL 2013, holding his own alongside more experienced bowlers such as Ravi Rampaul, Vinay Kumar, RP Singh and Zaheer Khan and took a career best of 5/25 in the match against Delhi Daredevils. He feels that the IPL has boosted his confidence immensely as he got to bowl to AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli in the nets. Zaheer Khan, he says, was a huge guiding force during the IPL outing, helping him develop the mindset to out-think batting sides.
Unadkat is also a part of the India A team which will tour South Africa in August.
We wish Jaydev all the best for his upcoming endeavour.
He, along with the fab members of the Fan Advisory Board, plot new schemes to engage with fans and trouble shoot their problems.
