Virat Kohli & The Numbers Game
The Indian batting sensation's love for numbers has reflected in his performances on the field so often, you'd think he loved math in school. In the Asia Cup fixture against Bangladesh on Wednesday, Virat Kohli became the fastest cricketer to reach 19 ODI centuries in just 124 innings, breaking fellow RCBian Chris Gayle’s record who achieved it in 179 innings.
Kohli's blistering 136 off 122 balls was not only the highest score in the match against Bangladesh, but also the highest individual innings ever by a captain in the Asia Cup. His 19th hundred was his 3rd against Bangladesh, taking him past Gautam Gambhir's tally of two.
With five ODI centuries in Bangladesh, Virat has gone a step ahead of Gambhir who collected three. 13 out of his 19 hundreds have been registered while chasing, and as many as 12 have come in winning causes. Only Sachin Tendulkar has a better record with 14 in 124 innings.
Kohli received his 18th Man of the Match award in ODIs - 2nd against Bangladesh.
