World Cup 2011 - Aussies get a boost, England a blow!
No player likes to miss a World Cup, for it is only once in four years that they get to play the mega event. But we are now seeing contrasting fortunes in case of Michael Hussey and Kevin Pietersen.
Michael Hussey has realised his World Cup dreams and will now be a part of squad after being named as replacement for the injured Doug Bollinger. Mr. Cricket, as he is also known, will no doubt strengthen the batting line-up but will also give Aussies tremendous confidence to play in turning sub-continent tracks. Australia who are yet to lose a match since their loss to Pakistan in 1999 World cup have now found one more reason to continue their winning spree.
On the other hand, Kevin Pietersen has been ruled out of the World Cup as he will fly home to undergo a surgery on a hernia. England, who are already having a roller-coaster ride in the World Cup so far, will sorely miss Pietersen. He was just beginning to look good having taken up the new role of opening the innings with the scores of 39, 31, 59 and 2 in the last four innings. His part-time off-spins and aggressive and positive approach at the start of innings was more than an asset for the England team. England have named Eoin Morgan as a replacement for Kevin Pietersen.
Now as Australia laugh merrily, England have some more thinking to do.
They, along with the fab members of the Fan Advisory Board, plot new schemes to engage with fans and trouble shoot their problems.
