World Cup 2011 - Performance of Challengers
Five Royal Challengers are in action in the ongoing mega Cricket event and the good news is that no one has disappointed their fans so far. RCB has a look at each player's performance till now:
Virat Kohli: He has been in sublime form coming into the tournament and he showed why he has been preferred by skipper Dhoni ahead of Suresh Raina in the very first match against Bangladesh scoring a fluent 100. He also made the rare record of scoring a 100 in world cup debut. He came into bat really late in the match against England when going hammer and tongs was the call, and eventually lost his wicket.
Zaheer Khan: Till Sunday, everyone called him the mainstay of Indian bowling attack, but on eve of match against England, he showed why he is called so. Unable to take a wicket in first spell, he looked more determined in the second spell, taking important wickets of Ian Bell, Andrew Strauss and Paul Collingwood to help India secure a tie from the jaws of defeat.
Daniel Vettori: He is one of the few utility players who is sure to help the team in some form or another. He didn’t required to put much effort in the match against Kenya as the young Barnett did the job for New Zealand, but in match against Australia he put on a gutsy 44 and helped his side reach the competitive score along Nathan Mcculum with the record eight wicket partnership of 54 runs. He will have a huge role to play in determining the fortunes of New Zealand team.
T.M Dilshan: Having read how this number 7 batsmen has transformed into a one of the most feared openers in ODI’s, he caught Pakistan off-guard with his attacking 50, but due to middle order crisis his team could not reach home victorious.
AB De Villiers: His innings of 107* downed the West Indies chasing a competitive target of 223 easily. Having taken the dual role of wicket-keeper batsmen, De Villiers showed no signs of pressure and looks determined to help his side get rid of chokers tag.
