About Me Born in Bangalore 24 years ago, I am author of three books have been shuttling careers ever since I could move my limbs. Been traveling most of my short life, and having been coached at the BPCA when I was too young to understand the world, I guess I'm pretty much the unofficial expert on cricket everywhere I go.
I've been blogging for almost 7 years now and at one point, I had four active blogs. I am a blogger by passion, and my primary bog is called MirrorCracked, which has had 90,000 hits in its first year. I am a guest author on Indimag, a group blogging initiative on a democratic India. Another group blog that I started is called Youth Unite, aimed at creating awareness among the youth of the country to wake up and act. I also write for technical blogs, mainly Mashable and the Darkwater Digital blog. So prolific was my blogging that I have won thirty-seven awards so far, including the prestigious Mr. Blogger award and the Blog Of The Day award (thrice). My blog has been rated 'E for Excellent' twice.
I am the most fanatic RCB fan because... i am a Bangalorean. Wherever I am in this world, I'll always be a Bangalorean at heart. Doesn't matter if Sachin scores a century, I cry when Dravid scores a duck. Okay, maybe not cry, but I'm pretty heart-broken at the prospect. What more fun can there be in the world to see an exquisitely timed cover drive by the Wall or Kumble's gracefully looping curve that crashes into the stumps before the batsman can blink twice?
I remember the time RCB was playing at the Chinnaswamy, against KKR. This was the first match of the very first IPL, and RCB was thrashed to all corners of the park by a McCullum in heat. Amidst the soaring temperatures and increasingly colorful languages in the crowd, I was there, clutching my RCB T-shirt and hoping that every other ball would do the magic and miraculously turn the game around. But, in vain. I hardly slept for a week, with images of the nightmarish encounter still haunting me every now and then when my defenses are weak. Maybe I need Occlumency.
Strategy Map for RCB - Airtel Champions LeagueMy preferred line up : 1. Rahul Dravid
2. Anil Kumble
3. B. Akhil
4. Vinay Kumar
5. Praveen Kumar
6. Jesse Ryder
7. Mark Boucher
8. Robin Uthappa
9. Barrington Rowland
10. Thilak Naidu
11. Bharat Chipli
12. Jaques Kallis
why do I prefer this line up : Well, as you can initially make out, there are two new member I recommend - Barrington Rowland, Thilak Naidu and Bharat Chipli. All three have cemented a reputation in the Karnataka Ranji Trophy team and are firebolts in themselves. Bharat's aggressive batting made him a regular feature opening the innings for the state, and has given many a bowler a sleepless week. Thilak Naidu, like a sponge behind the stumps, hardly lets anything past him. Moreover, he understands Kumble's bowling, which Boucher or the other RCB keepers have always floundered. Rowland is the perfect foil for any batsman as he is undoubtedly the Second Wall in the team. Rarely makes a mistake and his technique is better than a wet dream.
The others are regular features in the RCB team. Kumble should lead the team. No doubt about it, as he's proven to be much better at handling pressure-cooker situations than Dravid. Perhaps this is because he takes the onus on himself and grabs a few wickets if he's angry.
Van der Merve should be dropped ASAP! He's a good potential replacement for Lance Klusener for the South African team, but no, he's just not good enough to make the cut for RCB. Boucher can do what he does, better.
My opening match strategy: Open with Bharat Chipli and allow him to put the fear of God in the bowlers. Let him loose, while Dravid holds up the other end solidly. I would play Boucher at three and Jesse Ryder at four. With Rowland and Kallis to come, it's a formidable batting line-up.
I would open the bowling with Praveen Kumar and if the batsmen look too eager to force the issue in the first over, Kumble should open alongside and curb the run-flow initially. Always keep a slip and a gully for Kumble, even in the death. I would toss the ball to Kallis as first change.
My best T20 match:
India vs. England, 2007 ICC World Twenty20. Yuvraj Singh demolished England's hopes and Stuart Broad's (then) short career with a 12-ball 50, the fastest yet in this format of the game. Broad was taken for six 6s in his over by Yuvraj. Need I say more why this is my best T20 match?
