About Me I'm one big sports freak.CORRECTION: SPORTS ADDICT; I live for/due to the following reasons: >Playing Cricket..I eat, sleep, talk and walk cricket -it's my life!I'd die without it! >Family n Friends and >Praising RCB and Rahul Dravid! I believe that no person in the world has a right to curb the natural views and thought process of another individual, implying, that I'm head-strong and believe in standing up for what i think is right, and I do that through my blogs.I'm a blog addict and have been blogging since the age of 12.I'm also into journalism and writing,as they're things that fascinate me - in every sense of the word. Besides all this,I am also a representative of the Bangalore Zone in the U-16 zonal tournament held in Karnataka.Yes,i'm 15 years old.My knack to try out new things- I BLOGGED WHEN PEOPLE MY AGE WERE LOLLY-GAGGING - holds me in good stead to be a good strategist. Also,I have an aptitude for management and leadership, which when put along with my knowledge of the game and it's on-field requirements and experiences, will be just about the right thing to make me the perfect strategist for the team I cannot get enough of. I've been a cricket fanatic for over 13 years now..and will always remain one.I've grown up watching almost every Indian squad to have played since my time.Cricket has taken over my life like nothing else..especially the one man who I consider the best gentleman to have ever lived,Rahul Dravid. He is one person who I've learnt a lot from;thus,if you find that I'm soft-spoken,speak my mind out and am a calm(NO BOASTING INTENDED) reactor to situations, you know where i get it from.CRICKET AND EVERYTHING RELATED TO CRICKET HAS MADE ME.
I am the most fanatic RCB fan because... Because Bangalore is in my blood; the Bangalorean spirit never ceases to amaze me! CUT ME IN TWO,AND I WILL BLEED RCB. I'm the most fanatic fan because I know every detail about all the players in the team and have never missed a game. I believe in myself and my abilities..which is the Royal Challengers way. Despite being an upcoming cricketer,I don't have as much passion for the national team,as I do for Royal Challengers..and I'm not afraid to admit that.
Strategy Map for RCB - Airtel Champions LeagueMy preferred line up : Manish Pandey Rahul Dravid Jacques Kallis Ross Taylor Virat Kohli Robin Uthappa Roeloof van der Merwe Mark Boucher .Praveen Kumar R Vinay Kumar Anil Kumble Jesse Ryder
why do I prefer this line up : This is an ideal line-up,with tremendous flexibility. Adding to those strenghts is the fact that this line-up consists of players who are well-settled..there's no insecurity among any of the players and they know they can play free-flowing without worrying about their spots in the team. The daredevilry of Manish Pandey to alongside either Rahul Dravid or Jacques Kallis can guarantee a great start to almost every game. The No.3 position,of course,is ideally suited for either Kallis or Dravid, hence, that virtually means,4 back-up players for 2 positions. The middle order is where the sting lies. Ross Taylor came into himself towards the end of season 2,with some sweltering knocks at No.4. So it's either Taylor or Ryder, even if the big man had a ghastly time last time season,he's one player who can turn anyone's day around.I would prefer him down the order,as he has the ability to bludgeon the spinners. The next 3 spots in the line-up could be occupied by any of Virat Kohli(for his eccentricity),Robin Uthappa(who has taken up a responsible manner) and Roeloof van der Merwe(who can get the crowd and squad going, from any position in the line-up) and ,of course,Mark Boucher, the master of death. The T20 game demands a difference in style at every moment, and these players are very different in their respective approaches, despite all being extremely aggressive, with the ability to whack it out of the park. The lower order is also very capable of chipping in handy runs, all the way down to Anil Kumble. The bowling is as secure as ever. Praveen/Kallis/Vinay/Ryder,are all capable of putting pressure on the batting. Them followed by Roeloof and the sorcerer,Anil Kumble..and a few overs here n there from the likes of Kohli and Uthappa, puts RCB in good stead to bowl out any opposition facing them. Batting and bowling apart, the fielding department is top-notch,and can be relied upon to make the difference. All in all,it is a very well-balanced,flexible,aggressive side, filled with match-winners and mixed with youth and experience, with a passion for glory and the hunger to be noticed again..this time as champions.
My opening match strategy: RCB should go into the game looking to dominate. The line-up(in batting order): 1.Manish Pandey 2.Jacques Kallis 3.Rahul Dravid 4.Jesse Ryder 5.Virat Kohli 6.Robin Uthappa 7.Roeloof van der Merwe 8.Mark Boucher(wk) 9..Praveen Kumar 10.R Vinay Kumar 11.Anil Kumble(c) I would prefer to have Ryder in the team, for his bowling abilities and the variation his left-handed batting style brings to the line-up;Taylor is more of a typical T20 hitter and can be contained relatively easier than Ryder. RCB should look to win the toss and bat first,as the tracks deteriorate and slow down later on in the game, which is highly beneficial, given the inexperienced,first-timers in The Cobras’ squad who are accustomed to pacey bounce. The batsmen should play it steady in the first 6 overs ,as that’s the only stage of the game that RCB have-surprisingly-failed to dominate. The openers should look to get the team to 45/0 at the end of the powerplay. If they do manage to get through those initial overs without getting separated, then van der Merwe or Ryder can walk in at No.3,failing which,Dravid can always be depended upon to hold the innings together. The middle stages of the innings(over 9-15) should be utilized to build a partnership that ensures at least 6 wickets in hand for the last 5 overs. The batting order can then be altered with,so as to make the most of every scenario. A promotion for the likes of Roeloof and Utthappa is definitely a good ploy to unnerve the opposition. To summarize, the batting should be steady, and build from a strong base; they should look to achieve a minimum of 70 runs in the first ten overs, rather than going hammer and tongs from the word go.The target score should be around 170,as chasing anything above 150 on deteriorating pitches in India is as easy as facing Malcolm Marshall with your feet stuck to the ground. As for the bowling, the main objective should be to take the pace off the ball as much as possible and get Gibbs and Smith EARLY- irrespective of whether they’re bowling first or otherwise.JP Duminy is also a force to be reckoned with since he has the ability to hang around and wait for anything loose. He and the rest of the Cobras’ batsmen will be looking to get on top of anything that is even slightly on the shorter side. The bowlers have to make sure that the opposition batsmen get as less time as possible. The spinners hold the key to regulate the opposition run rate. Like mentioned before, the ball should be burgled off it’s pace as much as possible, and noone can do that better than the spinners. To support this “take-the-pace-off” tactic-especially in the 2nd half of the game-a spinner could be used to open the bowling. At least one of the faster bowlers is bound to be taken for runs. Hence, the support system consisting of Ryder and Kohli should be used wisely and at the right intervals in the game; Also,Robin Utthappa is the most underrated and under-bowled part-timer in world cricket,he can very well be used as a bowling option. Ironically, these part-timers too would help slow down the pace. Anil Kumble and Praveen Kumar should be used as the wicket-takers. Sticking to this plan and topping it off with some good fielding and the usual winning spirit, should see the opposition restricted well below the 120 mark- either chasing or setting. RCB will definitely come out on top if this strategy is used in the right ways.
My best T20 match:
The opener.;after all the speculation, open criticism and unpleasant comments, the RCB campaign kicked off on the perfect note. What stood out and was etched in my memory, was the swashbuckling 60 odd that Rahul Dravid managed to get,out of a match that seemed too dull to be true.I COULD KILL FOR DRAVID;hence,I was extremely overjoyed when his bat did the talking yet again,to shut up the critics who questioned his ability to hit the ball. He had done it again and I was taken over by what seemed like a perpetual feeling of satisfaction and gladness. But what followed his magnificent display, still gets me going! The spirited comeback which the Challengers made in spite of the "BIG-DOG" image of the opposition, was the most pleasing cricket I've ever seen. It's one thing to fight back and offer toughness..it's another,to do so with the pressure of the administration, the nerves in following the new captain and a relatively old side. They lived up t the lines- "Jeetenge Hum Shaan Se". RCB made the rest of my month that day. References:KunJanGood luck man! It's fans like you that make a good fan club!NehaShaikhGood luck!
