About Me

Ujj has made countless attempts to get selected for any group of individuals capable of calling themselves a cricket team but to no avail. He once gave his high school coach a heart attack while attempting to bowl the doosra. Being then asked to concentrate on pace, he destroyed the skull of a batsmen while attempting to bowl a slower one (that turned out to be a beamer). Since then he has realized the only way to remain harmlessly related to the love of his life is by writing on it. A product of north and south indian intimacy, and a lover of alu parathas with steaming rassam, he is currently somewhere between MG Road and reality.. PS: The coach and batsmen survived.

I am the most fanatic RCB fan because...

A sakhat Bangalorean at heart, Ujj gets turned on by class, elegance and power (both for cricket and Neer Dosas). No wonder when it comes to supporting the team, he backs the one with the perfect mix of the above qualities. His love for his team has often been described by his peers as bordering enthusiasm and fanaticism, to which he often argued against. Though after he plead guilty to the jaw-breaking-incident involving his Deccan peers, he has not argued against the matter.

Strategy Map for RCB - Airtel Champions League

My preferred line up :

Jesse Ryder Manish Pandey Jacques Kallis Rahul Dravid Ross Taylor Virat Kohli Mark Boucher Vinay Kumar Anil Kumble Balachandra Akhil Praveen Kumar Rajesh Bishnoi

why do I prefer this line up :

The line up mentioned above is a good mix of experience and youth. It has people like Ryder, Taylor, Pandey and Uthappa who back their strengths and also Dravid, Kallis and Boucher who employ strategy and gentleness to force the initiative. The bowling department is full of wily customers. PK is the key, he's got the swing and Akhil has the control. On good days, 2 of the batsmen and 2 of the bowlers will fire and do the job. On bad days all of them will make up for each other. With useful part timers like Taylor and Kohli in the team, the team has the freedom to employ a change in pace and get in some variation to slow things down in case the specialist bowlers get wacked around.

My opening match strategy:

Unlike other teams, RC isnt a side with an ultra strong single department. Its a dictionary definition of a good team and that is their strength. For this reason I believe batting first or second doesnt matter to it. The opening pair of Pandey and Ryder needs to be given a free reign. Kallis and Dravid to follow are great when it comes to changing their game as the situation demands. Kohli can be moved up the order if the opening pair fires and RC is say 70-80 for 1. Taylor is best when 5-6 overs are remaining and we have to ensure that he gets that much time in the middle. Bowling will be spearheaded by Praveen Kumar and Akhil. PK's swing will be the key and Akhil will have to hold his line and length to keep things tight at the other end. The idea is to give a short stint of bowling to all medium pacers before Kumble starts from one end. Kallis and Vinay Kumar should come on in as first change. Kumble should bowl 3 overs straight and keep 2 for the end. It might be a good idea to give an over each to Taylor and Kohli if the wickets arent falling. The fielding dept looks bright with Kohli, Taylor and Ryder inside the circle. Later on when the field spreads out, the team can bank on Taylor's good arm.

My best T20 match:

Venue: Ind Vs Aus, 2007 ICC World t20, Kingsmead, Durban Date: 22nd September 2007

Still remember that effortless six by Yuvi off Bret Lee that turned out to be the biggest six of the tournament. His rapid fire 70 off 30 odd balls, helped us reach a mighty 188, but the best was yet to come. The match was filled with unforgettable moments like that of Sreesanth beating the turf, Bhajji's reaction when he bowled Clarke with a yorker. Symonds' wicket that turned the game and finally Yuvis catch of the bowling of Joginder Sharma that hammered the final nail on the coffin. Cannot forget Ricky Pontings expression. Cannot For me this was bigger than the t20 world cup victory that was to follow two days later.

how many bloggers learn a language and a framework to code a commentary application the way they want it? like this - http://cricroar.appspot.com/ Ujj is one among these rare breed of cricket-fanatic-techies Everytime i read Ujj's tweet or a blog, I either smile/laugh/cheer or smirk at myself and think why don't I have his wit!

ujj is an avid blogger and a crazy cricket fan. Really appreciate his love for cricket . He loves doing commentary and to try out his commentary skills he also created an application http://www.cricroar.com/ . His comments on the ball by ball updates of the matches used to be quite interesting. His blogs are quite refreshing. And so I think he deserves to be the Chief Blogger for the RCB team.

echo @Floyd. He's a fanatic cricket lover (much to my misery) since I am his flatmate. Please let him travel with the team and watch the matches from the ground so that I can have the Tele for myself, KTHXBYE.

I always know him as an avid blogger who breathes cricket. I remember him updating us about any/every match over twitter - especially for IPL. In fact, he created an application for all of us who can't access Crickinfo.com site to look at updated score. The other reason is his mind-blowing language that he uses to blog. Be it Hindi or English, you read him and it'll always be refreshingly hilarious. I think he deserves to be a "Chief Blogger" for RCB more than anyone else. Three cheers for RCB and three cheers for Ujjwal. Regards, Fagun
