Cricket & your City, Cricket in your City
Tell us about cricket and what it means to your city, how it is followed, any RCB fans there?
We want to know about it all
Cricket means bangalore! Bangalore means cricket! Cricket is my girlfriend n this tells it all! V ve d best cricket academy in India (KIOC) from which robin, pandey have come n i`m also a part of it! Cricket is just more than a sport. Dravid, Kumble, Vishwanath, Prasanna, Srinath, Venky, Chandrashekar..... the list is never ending! These names are self explanatory about cricket in Bangalore! V also hosted d first t20 international n IPL matches! Also RCB has d most no. of local players in its side among d IPL teams. I proudly say that RCB has d best fan following. To cite an example Venkatesh Prasad told after a match in bangalore "U cant do anything when d whole stadium is shouting to put d catch down!" My personal experience- I`d not been to an IPL-3 match but happened to pass by d stadium. RCB was batting n d noise from d RCB supporters was heard so clearly even @ manekshaw parade ground! One could easily identify a boundary scored or a RCB wicket lost jus listenin to d noise! Cricket`s an integral part of bangalore n every bangalorean!
Cover a local cricket match.
How the game was played, controversies on the ground, injuries and who bags the gold at the end
of the match. Build the excitement with your words.
Its a bright sunny day out here at d ITI grounds. KIOC A take over d KIOC B team! D B team is a very strong one with as many as 4 state ranji team stand-bys! Whereas d KIOC A ve a pretty ordinary team but u nvr kno when a hero will emerge! KIOC A has won d toss n elected to bat. Since its a matting surface d decision has nothin to do with d pitch. KIOC A ve lost their openers in quick succession n look a troubled lot. Here comes in d captain @ number 4. He`s playing d perfect role as a captain leading from d front but unfortunately is not able to find a good support @ d other end. He`s finally found an ally in d no.8 batsman! He`s guided his team, though limping due to cramps, to a challenging 153 in d quota of 30 overs. Now after d 10 min break between d innings walk in d KIOC B openers. But wait where`s d keeper of d KIOC A side? KIOC A now realise they`d not got their keeper along as he had injured his thumb in a previous match! D tired captain, who is an ocassional keeeper in the nets as he doesnt bowl borrows gloves from d other team keeper n gets himaelf ready for d job! Way to go skipper! D perfect way to cheer up d young inexperienced team. D KIOC B openers go in for a kill scoring @ over 8 runs an over. Debutant Bharath is given d ball. He`s produced magic! A hat-trick in his first 3 balls! 2 state ranji stand-bys in d 3! Thats d perfect debut for anyone! Suddenly in his next over d skipper is hit by d ball in his jaws n needs to leave d field. He`s rushed to d nearby hospital as he`s bleeding profusely. Turn of fortunes to d KIOC B side. They adopt a defensive technique scoring @ a low rate but conserving wickets for d last few overs. They come very close to d target with around 20 runs required in d last 10 overs n 6 wickets in hand! In d 21st over an appeal for caught behind is given but it was very clear the ball was miles away from d bat! Tension in d field as d coaches n players get into a spat. Finally d batsman is called back, d umpire replaced n d match continues! 3 more wickets in 2 overs n both sides in a tensed mood now. now d momentum shifts to d bowling side. Everyone in d pavilion r on their toes! Bharath bowls a wicket maiden in the 28th over! D penultimate over yields jus 1 run but with d loss of another wicket! D equation now 2 runs in d last over with 1 wicket remaining! First 4 dot balls, in d 5th ball a tight single is taken but d keeper doesnt collect d ball cleanly. This tempts d night-watchman @ strikers end, who doesnt want to face d last ball, call for another run to complete d proceedings! But presence of mind by d keeper results in a run-out! "Minnows" KIOC A ve won d nail biting match by just 1 run against d strong KIOC B team! More good news for KIOC A as their captain returns smiling with no major injuries reported! Phew, what a match it was! Cant forget it ever. Brief scores: KIOC A-153/7 in 30 overs KIOC B-152 allout in 29.5 overs.
I CAN BE RCB'S CHIEF BLOGGER BECAUSE..
Cricket is in ma DNA! I`m a die hard RCB fan who`d do anything to be a part of it! I only professional cricket which adds a whole new dimension of having first hand information about d players feelings during any situation on d field! I also played cricket in d same academy as Robin, Pandey n know some of the initial troubles they`d gone through before coming to d spotlight. Very few people know that Robin had d problem of getting out LBW when he was still an ordinary club level player. He corrected it from his childhood coach. He never used to hesitate to bat in d juniors nets too after d completion of his batting session! Since cricket is my girlfriend I do know how to express thins in an exciting manner which is very important. I know d profiles of RCB players which would make d job easier n also helps me do d job more efficiently. hoping for d best, signing off is Bharath who gives u always d sweetest news about RCB!
