Cricket & your City, Cricket in your City
Tell us about cricket and what it means to your city, how it is followed, any RCB fans there?
We want to know about it all
Cricket in Delhi is considered as a religion more than a sport. It has the top cricketing clubs of the country. Players like Sehwag, Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Ishant sharma, etc have grown out of this city. Cricket here is followed like a mad thing, people even leave their offices and work to watch INDIA play. Also Delhi has its own IPL team "DELHI DAREDEVILS" which has performed very well in this league. People in Delhi aren't biased to their city, they follow cricket and they respect the game more than a team. Here there are many people who have migrated from Bengaluru, but thats not the main reason, even Delhities are pretty fond of the Bangalore team as it comprises of some serious players like Anil Kumble, Petierson, Kallis, Styen, etc. RCB's middle order batsman Virat Kohli is from Delhi and has even played for Delhi A team in Ranji Trophy but still he plays for Bangalore as if he is from there. That is how people here are, they become one when it comes to a game. There are many local cricketing tournaments which keep happening and it is very well organised and supported by DDCA. Ferozshah Kotla is Delhi's own stadium and is one of the oldest in the continent. It also holds a very fond memory of a world class spinner Anil Kumble claiming 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan. I wouldn't call people in Delhi cricketing fans because they follow it like religion and they will do everything possible under the sun to catch a glimpse of the match. Even a lay man is well informed about each and every player in this league, That is how cricket is considered here. People can find joy even when the country or when their IPL team losses. That is what cricket is in New Delhi!!!!

of the match. Build the excitement with your words.
Welcome to the sunny yet windy Sunday morning. The temperature looks good and with the crowds are coming in to support their teams respectively & it is heating up second by second. We have a good game on our hands as its the clash between the top two clubs in the country namely A and B. The crowds are filling in at a fast pace and the stadium looks pretty colorful and noisy, i cant even hear my own voice while m screaming on the mike to welcome everyone. the crowd looks enthusiastic and in great spirits. they have all turned up in huge numbers on this nice wintery sunday morning to watch a match, it looks like a huge picnic with a match in the background. As both the teams come out to warm up the noise is more than before as each of the player steps out on the field. who can say its a non-glamourous or an international game, people here in Benagaluru have even turned this not so glamorous game into an exciting one. you can sense the spirit of the game in the crowd. Toss time. Team A won the toss & elected to bat first. Team B walks out to field and take their respective positions. Game is going good and the crowd is enjoying every moment of the game. sum are happily joking around and sipping on cold beer. At the end of the alloted 20 overs team A has scored 200 for the loss of 2 wickets at an average of 10 runs per over with the opener getting a breathtaking 120 with 10 sixes and 6 fours. Crowd applaudes as both the batsmen leave the field. Team B comes out to bat. WOW..the crowd goes beserk as the opening bowler claims a hat trick on the first 3 balls of the over. this place has erupted. there's all noise, am sure it will be difficult for the umpires to hear the appeals or even a slight edge of the bat if there is any. team B is 168-8 at the end of 19 overs. a win from here looks difficult as the 2 batsmen out are tail enders and are new just 3 balls old in this game. 19.1 - no ball and the ball is out the stadium for a six. 19.1 - free hit(coz of a no ball) a slog and the ball races to the boundary. 19.2 - wide ball 19.2 - a slog. ball is up in the air fielders coming underneath the ball...oh no they collide and ball jumps out of their hand & a dropped catch, in the meanwhile the batsman have ran 3 runs. the pressure seems to have suddenly transfered back to the Team A...captain bitting his nails. 19.3 - what an amazing yorker to the tail ender...he does well to block it. no run. 19.4 - no ball signaled by the umpire followed by a slog and a four over mid on. 19.4 - free hit. a slower delivery picked up early by the batsman and he guides it to third man for a four. 19.5 - 2 runs taken by d batsman. Team B needs 3 runs to win from the last delivery. everybody comes inside the circle and 3 players close to the batsman. 19.6 - he slogs and slogs hard the ball is in the air, fielder running backwards to catch it...he puts in a dive and catches it and releases it just just before he touches the boundary coz of the force and momentum with he dived to catch it took him over the rope but the ball is in the field and the batsman trying to go in for the third and the throw cums in and a direct hit at the stumps and the batsman is well short of his crease and is hence given out. Team A wins this nail bitting game. the crowd has erupted and they are on top of their voices. Nice display of game here by both the teams. The sun comes out to salute the game at its finish. The true spirit of the game shown by both the teams. thank you all for coming here and being a part of such a wonderful game despite no big names or even the quality of an international standard. Thank you Bengaluru!!
I CAN BE RCB'S CHIEF BLOGGER BECAUSE..
I would like to be RCB'S chief blogger as being it is just not about posting the procedings with every ball but by the way one does it. its about keeping the people and readers interested in it and by even grabbing attention of others to read your blog because of the different style and pattern of writing. I believe in myself and my skills and am pretty confident about it. it will give me immense pleasure to be the CHIEF BLOGGER of RCB. I will be looking forward to have such an opportunity so that i can showcase my skills at a higher level without disappointing others.
