About

Daniel Vettori is a slow left arm orthodox bowler, a handy lower order batsman, a great cricket captain and currently leads RCB.

A New Zealander with Italian roots, Vettori has been playing International Cricket since he was 18 years old - that's 13 years of top flight cricket experience already. In this time he has moved from being just a stock bowler to being a strike bowler, from tail ender to able lower order batsman, from skipper to coach to selector. Daniel Vettori has withstood all these responsibilities thrust on him and all the assumptions to do a fine job for New Zealand.

As a bowler, Daniel Vettori is one of the most underrated talents in the world, a miserly and shrewd operator. Currently the world's second highest wicket taker in tests, Vettori's bowling is as lethal in T20s and ODIs.

He's an accomplished batsman as well, despite the fact that his preferred batting position means Vettori does not have as many opportunities to score big in limited over games.

A part of the Delhi Daredevils in the first three editions of the IPL, Daniel Vettori was not a certain starter owing to the interests of team balance and the 4 overseas players rule. Coming in to lead RCB however, Vettori has been a revelation. Operating with great freedom, Vettori plotted dismissals that are a purist's delight in T20 games and lead the team to the final of the 2011 IPL along the way.

RCB Highlights

RCB vs. CSK, Bangalore, 2011
Daniel Vettori made sure it was his team that won the penultimate league match of the 2011 season as the top spot was still up for grabs. His figures of 2/15 from 4 overs included the scalps of the technically skilled Badrinath and the powerful Dwayne Bravo. The home side cantered to an 8-wicket win and finished the 2011 IPL League stage on top of tables.

RCB vs. MI, Qualifier 2, Chennai, 2011
Daniel Vettori ensured that his team made it through to the final in their second chance. He removed two brilliant players of spin, Rohit Sharma and Ambati Rayudu before defusing Kieron Pollard to seal a 43 run win with a haul of 3/19 from his four overs. It was the bowler's equivalent of playing a captain's knock.
