KL Rahul must open the batting for RCB
After Mayank Agarwal's injury, RCB should have played another attacking opener to keep the balance of the side intact. Neither Saurabh Tiwary nor Cheteshwar Pujara showed the adaptability necessary in a T20 opener. With a middle order as solid as RCB's to follow and with Chris Gayle playing himself in, his opening partner must blast off at the other end. Kohli got many such chances to prove himself in 2008 when the IPL began and must extend the opportunity to another youngster to make it big.

“ KL Rahul's explosive starts will help ”
“ Pujara’s solidity required at the top ”
Vineet Varma: KL Rahul looks like a good choice to open the batting given his ability to hit the ball long and hard, which is definitely the need of the hour for RCB. Though Cheteshwar Pujara is technically more adept, Rahul has the ability to bring out the shots early in his innings and he can let Gayle get his eye in the meanwhile. So the ‘Rahul-Gayle’ opening combination looks like a good choice for RCB.
Dhiraj Salian: Cheteshwar Pujara is a solid batsman, he can provide RCB a safe start no matter what the opposition and how the pitch behaves. With a batsman like him, RCB can build strong base and allow the other explosive batsmen in the line up the license to go hammer and tongs at the opposition bowlers. Pujara has also shown he can change gears brilliantly and provide RCB a smooth finish himself.
