RCB should have rotated spinners more in India

“ Spinners have had a bigger say in the second half of IPL 7. ”
“ RCB’s pace attack is better than it’s spin attack. ”
Monish Moorthy: Over the course of IPL 7 we have seen spinners having a bigger say in the outcome of the matches. RCB themselves had young leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal to prove the effectiveness and importance of spin as an attacking option.

Yuvraj Singh did well with the ball on the occasions when he got the ball but the team could also have used Shadab Jakati as a wicket-taking partner for Chahal to try and outwit the batsmen in the middle overs and take pressure off the death bowling. The pace attack was not so exceptional that none of them could have been dropped to make way for another spinner. Muttiah Muralitharan did play some games and did reasonably well.

Playing on Indian pitches during a hot summer, a good spin attack is crucial to further your cause. The decision of sticking to just 1 spinner could well have made the difference to RCB’s campaign.
Shreya Ganguly: Spinners may have been successful over the tournament, but it is always advisable to play to the strengths of your team. RCB had a better pace battery than spin attack and they did well to stick to their guns. Muttiah Muralitharan was played and he was just not his usual self with batsmen finding ways to deal with him and also squeeze runs out of his overs. Shadab Jakati, the 3rd spinner in the squad is not a big turner of the ball and that could work against him if he is not bang on target with his accuracy at all times. To add to that, he is not someone who will get wickets in plenty in every game.

The safe option for RCB was to back their pacers and add that extra bite to the bowling attack which also gives more variety to play with in the death overs.

Rather than playing an extra spinner in the side, Yuvraj Singh could have been bowled more regularly who has proved to be a capable part time spinner. With the experience at his disposal, he is someone who also gets wickets at crucial junctures. Getting in a specialist spinner could have made the bowling attack a bit more one dimensional and if the spinners have a bad day, it could have resulted in carnage.

I think rcb needs a foreign spinner .Somebody who is playing international cricket . Muralitharan is not picking wickets and is expensive at times .chahal is good but he needs a partner . he cannot deliver always

rcb made a very big mistake by playing 4 bowlers.... they would have given chance to jakati earlier.... they also didn't pick up shreyas gopal in the auction.... hope rcb never repeat the mistake again in the next season...
