Vijay Zol should open for RCB alongside Chris Gayle in IPL 7
65.04 % Defend
34.96 % Attack
“ Time to test his potential ”
“ Top order needs experience ”
Vidula Menge: Young Vijay Zol has been a sensation in India's U19 circuit. At a tender age, he has already created waves with impressive performances. With the explosive Chris Gayle at the top, RCB needs someone who can quietly collect runs and play a supporting role as well as prosper personally. He has had tremendous success with the bat leading the U19 team in India as well as abroad. Zol did not play a single game in the 2013 season. It is time his ability to rack up huge scores at a fast rate is put to test on the big stage, giving him the much-needed exposure that will further boost his confidence level. The youngster must find a place in RCB's playing XI sooner than later.
Shreya Ganguly: For someone so young and raw as Vijay Zol, opening the innings might not be a good idea. Especially in the T20 format, where there's hardly any time to settle at the crease and every ball counts. There is immense pressure to score right from the start and that requires some amount of experience on the big stage. Someone like Parthiv Patel has been around for years, and scoring quickly comes to him rather easily. He has previously opened for other franchises as well, and that has only added to his experience. Zol's talent cannot be undermined, but putting him at the top right away might add to the pressure. He can blossom in the middle order, where the situation maybe slightly better than while opening.

Instead of experimenting with new players, India should play its well set players in the series ahead of the World Cup.
