good one.. nice on the paper and i hope they implement it on field.. but I personally feel our battin aproach needs to change… I wrote the same in other article as well. I am doing it here again just with a hope that some one in the team management notice it.. I am sure the batsmen know more but as a fan if I have an observation I will write it.. So here it is..
case: A shortpitched ball on middle and off
what other teams normally do: pull it over square leg or midwiicket
what our batsmen do: defend it, pull it along the ground straight tio a fielder
result: other teams get a six whereas we get no runs or if we are lucky, a boundary( 1 in 4 times maybe)
case: a full pitched delivery on off or outside off stump
what other teams do: slog it over midwicket
what we do: steer it towards point or cover drive it.
result: other teams get a six, we get 0,1,2 runs most times. 4 occasionally if it is dravid.
case: a good length delivery on middle coming in
what we do: defend it
what other teams do: flick it towards short square leg and steal a single
result: other teams get a run, we dont..
many more.. all we need to do is look to score runs… the last shot involves no risk at all.. change our approach and we will score not less that 20 more runs still losing the same number of wickets we are losing now
