A CRACKER OF A MATCH!

The stadium was set, with fans waving the RCB flag and the chants of AAARRR CCCEEE BBBEEE echoing through the ground.

The first RCB match of the season and we were ready to rule.
Mumbai Indians, having won the toss, elected to field, giving us the chance to
put up a big score on the board.

It was good seeing youngsters like Arun Karthick and Karun
Nair getting a chance to be a part of the playing XI. Openers TM Dilshan and
the mighty Chris Gayle took the field. MI bowlers, especially debutant Jaspal
Bumrah, put up an excellent show, taking important wickets at regular
intervals. Virat Kohli smashed 24 runs before getting out, and slowly others
followed suit. But never fear when Gayle is here! The mighty king of sixes was
in form , scoring a whopping 92* runs of 58 balls, hitting 11 fours and 5
sixes, taking the team total to 156/5 in 20 overs.

An epic moment for every cricket fan was when two legends
Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting walked to the field to open for Mumbai
Indians. The stadium erupted in cheers when the two of them walked towards the
pitch.

True to their legacy, the duo opened well, bringing up a 50
run partnership for MI, before Sachin was run out by Jaydev Unadkat. Dinesh
Karthik came into the attack, and at one point it looked as if he would win the
game for MI! He played a good innings, hitting 60 runs (3X4, 4X6). He smashed 3
back-to-back sixes and a 4 in Daniel Christians over, which scared every RCB
fan!

With a score of 140/3 with 2 overs to go, Jaydev Unadkat
took the ball. He conceded only 7 runs in his last over, which was a game
changer in favour of RCB. Vinay Kumar came up to bowl the last over of the
match. It was down to the wire, MI needed 10 runs from 6 balls. And Vinay
struck gold, taking back-to-back wickets of the dangerous D. Karthik and A.
Rayadu! Pollard hit a 4 of the second last ball, and MI needed 2 runs off the
last ball. Vinay Kumar’s last ball Yorker helped us win the game, the first
time we have beaten MI at our home ground!

This was a match that we fans love watching- a slow start
with a nail biting finish. With RCB winning their first game, let’s hope they
continue their winning streak till the end and emerge Champions!
