A Much Needed Win! - RCB Vs DD - IPL7
Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Delhi Daredevils, the win keeps RCB in the race for the 4th spot!
It has been long time we sensed a win, be a home game or away we had been struggling to get the winning formula. The Royal Challengers ended their losing streak in the match against the Delhi Daredevils, it was a rain affected match and Rcb had lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Chris Gayle has not been at his best and had been struggling for his form and the top order failure had always been a question mark, this IPL season. After losing the toss and asked to bat first, the RCB openers were off to a bright start but lost Chris Gayle way too early when he was on 22. Virat Kohli had been struggling for his form as well with just one half century in this season’s IPL, he had also opened the batting along with Chris Gayle in the previous match against the Rajasthan Royals. Virat Kohli was run out for just 10 runs, and RCB was in serious trouble. Parthiv Patel and De Villiers put on a 49 run partnership for the third wicket and when things were going on well for the home side, Parthiv Patel sliced one over backward point and was caught safely by Karthik. Walked in, the man of the moment Yuvraj Singh, who had played a gem of a knock against the Rajasthan Royals and he would not have thought the knock he played would end up on a losing note. Ab De Villiers was at his very best and had been scoring at a very good pace. Abd and Yuvi were about to repeat the Innings they played against the Rajasthan Royals, but Siddarth Kaul had removed ABD, castled away, a quick fire 17 ball 33 comes to an end. Yuvraj did not give up, he was at his brutal best and scored a magnificent half century yet again. At one stage Rcb had lost 4 wickets for 107 and even 150 looked difficult, thanks to Yuvi’s brutal hitting towards the end. The last over from Rahul Shukla went for 27 runs and that included 4 huge six’s from Yuvraj Singh and Royal Challengers had yet again scored a 180 plus total. Yuvraj Singh remained unbeaten on 68 from just 29 balls and Sachin Rana had given him the much needed company and the fifth wicket stand produced 79 runs in 5.4 overs with Yuvraj Singh scoring the majority of Runs and all Royal Challengers had to do, successfully defend the total and not to let lose as happened against the match against Rajasthan Royals.
Needing 187 to Win, the Dehli openers had a bad start, Murali Vijay gone scoring a run and De Kock’s Leg stump was Uprooted by Mitchell Starc, DD lost two wickets for just 10 runs. Muralitharan had opened the bowling for the home side and kept things tight and at the other hand, Starc was at his best swinging the ball. Kp and Mayank Agarwal added 63 runs for the third wicket that posed problems for the home side, a much needed breakthrough was provided by Abu Nachim, Agarwal was caught at long on. Playing his first game of this season for the Royal Challengers, he had a good first spell and soon, they lost the wicket of their captain and Chahal strikes this time, Chahal was hit for a plenty before he foxed one with a sharp leg turn and Kp was back in the dug out scoring a 29 ball 33. The run rate was just above 10 when JP Duminy stepped in and he looked good, hit a few six’s and RCB was under pressure once again and the target looked achievable for the Delhi daredevils. Jp Duminy and Jadhav were taking the game away from the home side. A length ball from Starc and Duminy who had been playing so well was been castled away after scoring 48 of 30 balls. After losing Duminy, Jadhav pulled off things, scoring 14 runs of the 19 over and Abu Nachim had been the target. The 20th over needed 26 runs and Starc had been given the responsibility to finish off the things, Kedhar Jadhav hit the first ball for a six and the game was still on and Starc came back strongly to give just 3 runs of the remaining five balls and RCB has won the game by 16 runs and a much needed win that would keep RCB in the race for the Play Off’s.
Yuvraj Singh was adjudged man of the match.
