An art that RCB lacks!
An amazing recovery work by Kohli n Kallis was wasted by an often seen problem of the RCB bowlers. I think many loud mouth fan critics should eat back their words about dropping kallis! The sloggish Merwe, his much demanded replacement by many fans is highly incapable of playing like that. Neither is he a Vettori or Ojha with the ball. Kallis perfectly paced his knock that came at an extremely tough period of play where RCB was loosing wickets in a heap. Dont even think of replacing him now! Kohli played a stunning knock that help get a good total. But alas, our bowlers messed it up!
Though Kumble was unusually expensive but going for 9 rpo or more has been a regular economy for our pacers. We need to find a 'malinga' among our bowlers. He seems to have 90% acuracy with his deliveries at the death overs. I mentioned in my earlier blog about having intence 'yorker' sessions. Let Pk, steyn kallis try bowling 5 good yorkers in a row to big hitters KP, Ross & White at the nets. Also, mixing of pace is an effective method to contain batsmen. Our bowlers hardly seem to keep the batsman guessing about the next delivery. The art of death bowling has been a serious problem for our bowlers n its fortunate our batsmen have made up for those mistakes in some earlier wins.
And speaking of team changes, i think the 4 foreigners where well selected. Try Appanna as a support spinner than a pathetic Vinay. 3 pacers n 2 spinners is a good combination. Also, get a hard hitting Indian opener along with Kallis. Yes, there was plenty of assistance fo fast bowlers n Manish was bowled with a superb inswinger. So no blaming Manish for poor batting. But, low runrate at the start is often being a problem. I suggest Robin-kallis open & replace Manish by a batting allrounder who will bat lower. If Robin gets going in powerplays, he can take the runrate at 10 rpo or even more. We cant always expect such smashing last 6 overs all the time, so better get momentum at the top too. Ross and White can accelerate at the end.
Some tough period for RCB ahed n hope the team overcomes the challenges!
