And Sri Lankans Register Their First win.

The on going CB series today,Sri Lanka won their first match of this tournament in style. This is where Sri Lanka could be dangerous, their fielding has been top class through out this series!

The sixth match of the Commonwealthbank series was played between Sri lanka
and the host Australia, with Clarke sitting out with the injury, it was their
former captain Ricky Ponting who took the role as the stand in captain for
today's match and the match being played at SCG Australia won the toss and
decided to bat. As usual the openers were soon back to pavilion with David
Warner continued his poor run, the batsman was out for 13 and soon ponting
followed him with the Sri Lankan all rounder Farveez Maharoof chipping in today
got the wicket of Ricky Ponting and Ponting was out just for 2 runs. Sri Lanka
was too brilliant in the field today, the run out of Mathew Wade was quite
brilliant,Thisara Perera was the man who pulled of a brilliant run out from
short cover region. It was all depending on the Hussy brothers, but even that
hopes failed when Mike Hussy caught behind bowled Angelo and Aussies were
struggling 4-60. David Hussy was consolidating quite well as the wicket kept
falling at the other end even Peter Forrest who was impressive with India,
failed to prove this time, and soon Australia were 81/6 in 23 overs with
Forrest and Christian losing their wickets with rain interrupting the play, the
match was cut short to 41 overs maximum and the Sri Lankans did not waste much
time and soon came back to make Aussies all out for 158 in 40.5 overs, with D/L
coming into the play, the target was 152 from 41 overs. The Sri Lankan openers
Mahela and Dilshan started quite well and that was a very good start before
Dilshan lost his wicket for 45 and Sri Lankan were on the top already with 74/1
in just 11.4 overs, with Sangakkara at no.3, he batted brilliantly for his 30
of 29 balls included a six, the Sri Lankan skipper stood till the end with 61
not out and made sure his side was not in trouble and looked his team got the
winning points and registered their first win in this series in just 24.1
overs. Thisara Perera was adjudged Man of the Match for his couple of brilliant
run outs and wicket as well. Over all, Sri Lankans played well as a unit. Well
played Lanka!!
