Andrew Mcdonald’s Fiery Performance takes Team Uva Next to 3rd win - SLPL
Andrew Mc Donald brilliant all round performance in Sri Lanka Premier League 20-20 did a word of good for his team as Uva Next won by 14 runs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Andrew Mc Donald playing in SLPL came up with a superlative performance with both bat and ball in the match against Ruhuna Royals. Tharanga fitted in the openers role perfectly crawling to 48 runs of 40 balls as he lost his fellow partner for 17 runs and West Indian Chanderpaul too was bowled out for 8 runs.
Tharanga and Soahib Malik put on a nice partnership in the middle as they took rotated the strikes and and went to build on a steady innings. Malik fell for 27 in 20 balls and very soon skipper Kandamby also could not do much for the team. Just then n the 15.3rd over of the match Andrew Mc Donald came in and joined Tharanga. Andrew Mc Donald gave a warm welcome to the bowling side upon his arrival driving 2 successive boundaries one of them being making the room to cut it through backward point for a four and the other one he scooped through the same region which was a full-toss.
Tharanga departed in the 16.2nd over but Andrew Mc Donald continued to play on his fearless knock. In the 18th over he yet again carted the dangerous Malinga for four twice in the over as Malinga bowling figures were spoilt by McDonald. In the last ball of the 20th over he once again scored a boundary of Malinga which he guided the ball through the third-man region for a sweetly timed for four and guides it through the third-man region for a four. remained not out on 28 runs in just 14 balls with 5 fours and a brilliant strike rate of 200.
Andrew Mc Donald onslaught took his team to 155 runs which was much appreciable as it the end it did turn out to be a match winning knock. When Uva Next came into bowl to defend the total they bowled with ease not letting the opposition to get into form at any point of time during the match, This was also helped by Andrew Mc Donald’s magical bowling spell as he came into bowl in the 3rd over. Andrew Mc Donald got the wicket of opener Harris and later on chipped in and took the wicket of keeper Prasanna Jayawardene. Spinner Prasanna bowled a brilliant spell as he was well supported by Andrew Mc Donald. Prasanna took 4 wickets as he spun the ball very well and sent the batsmen back to the pavilion.
