Back to winning ways!

After suffering a couple of defeats, the Royal Challengers are back to winning ways with a thumping win over the KKR's!

We are the Royal Challengers and this was just a perfect example of that. A thumping victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders with a perfect exhibition of batting especially from the dependable Rahul Dravid and the flamboyant Robin Uthappa (Robbie) just proved our name correct.

Even though Uthappa's batting took away most of the attention of the win, I must admit that a lot of credit should go to the bowlers. The way the KKR's were cruising along with a 100+ in the 12th over that too with just 1 wicket down, a close to 200 total was always on the cards. But the way our bowlers fought back especially Vinay Kumar, I feel they laid the platform for our batsmen to fire and had shouldered the momentum of the match towards us.

Though RCB's had initial hiccups in chasing that total of 160 with the orange cap Kallis departing early and with slow run rate (as compared to the IPL standards) at the start. But Dravid and Sriram steered the boat very calmly and sensibly. As soon as Dravid changed gears, there was no looking back. The consecutive sixes he hit were just the beginning of what could be called a thunderous performance of batting. Robin and too small extent Ross Taylor as well, sent some serious signals to the other teams with their ferocious hitting. The Ajantha Mendis over which consisted of 3 sixes, 2 of which were awesome reverse hits by Uthappa just sent the crowd mad. It was probably the best displays of batting one would have seen in a long time. It's only Kevin Pietersen whom I have seen hitting reverse sixes, though he has a different approach which makes them called "switch hits" rather than reverse hits.

Not to say much, but with the way the RCB guys played today I don't think we would face any problem in reaching the finals (just to mention, that win has already taken us to the 2nd spot from the 4th). Consistency is the key from here on and we will be through! Amen.

Just in case anyone of you missed the match - here are the highlights.
