Chennai M-14’s day out!

Meeting Dravid, Kohli, getting kicked from the hotel and getting back into it, some amazing time with a few new and old friends and of course the perfect T20 match with just the wrong result and an relaxing evening at the Park Sheraton pretty much sums up my day yesterday with the Mighty -14 Chennai.

Being part of Royal Challenger's Mighty 14 Chennai, Kunal and I (the only two Fanatic Fans) started early and were surprised to find that we weren't the first at the hotel.  We arrived at 1130 hours and just wandered aimlessly in the lobby waiting for Coummunity Manager .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

.  She soon came followed by the other members of mighty 14.  We got down to talking and introducing each other when Virat Kohli showed up and the female hotel guests ran screaming (literally) with out stretched autograph books and pens, instantly getting the IPL security to intervene.  Nidhi talked some sense into them and we got a picture with him.  Wished him luck and he said a hasty thank you before running away.

This part now is called getting kicked out.  The IPL security got us out of the hotel, despite various explanations from Kunal, Nidhi and well many others.  Nidhi then had Rudy Du Tott the security head of RC come down and get us back in.  While we were outside, we met Balaji and wished him all the best and to not perform against us. We soon got back inside thanks to Rudy and the others.

Inside Kunal's whole family joined us!  Kunal started handing out the M -14 (sounds the sub-machine gun) RCB jersey.  After much debating we finally decided on who gets what.  Nidhi returned with the chiefs and we waited for the mystery player to be revealed (It must be noted at this time that Kunal and I fully knew who he was thanks to Radio Sandeep and Aneesh).  The mystery player turned out to be none other that the 'Wall of Indian cricket' Rahul Dravid himself.  The lens shy Dravid posed for a couple of pictures, and then obliged with autographs.  We wished the great man all the best and he left soon after.  Ashish Parmar - the Chief photographer made us pose and clicked a few pictures.  Kunal and I were interviewed by Radio Sandeep and then yours truly was involved in an candid and funny moment with Nidhi in front of M.R. Sandeep's video camera.

We left the hotel and went to find some food on the way to the stadium.  We stopped at an South Indian hotel so that Nidhi could have a taste of Southern India.  Soon after it was on to the M.A. Chidambaram stadium.

There at the stadium we were out numbered and got some cheeky remarks such as "enna yellow jersey kadikilla?"  meaning "What, didn't get yellow jersey?".

The match was the perfect T20 match (I'll review that in a later post), and the result was a little disappointing.  Still we had a great time and it was an amazing atmosphere to be in.

After the match, we bid adieu and left each our own ways.  I made it back to the hotel and met Radio Sandeep and had a pleasant evening with him and his cousin.  We went to his room and as Sandeep edited an video we watched the Delhi - Rajasthan match and relaxed.

A truly memorable day came to an end soon after and wish I can do this more often.  Thanks to all the M-14 members, and specially to Kunal, Nidhi, Sandeep M.R., and Radio Sandeep.
