Just read an article about some coincidental things happening in careers of Dravid & Ganguly. Ganguly struggled at the end of his career n then decided to quit during test series vs Australia. Similar happenings with Dravid as well n it cant be ruled out that Dravid would like to retire in test series against Aus. Well, my mind doesn't agrees he should be retiring yet. He is more accomplished batsman than Ganguly n he need not be following in his footsteps. But its time now he has to show again his class n make the selectors believe that there is lot of fire still in him. A big international tournament, high quality opposition, pace-bouncy conditions, poor current ODI middle order... This is a ideal opportunity to show selectors he is still valuable to be in other format of the game and he has it in him the caliber thats quite lacking in our ODI squad. If RCB wins the CL and/or Dravid puts in a smashing performance, he is bound to be noticed n be under serious consideration for being recalled in ODIs knowing the current incompetency of our middle order. Now if that happens, i hope its not just for the sake of 1-2 series where his service is used n then again dropped off! If he does get a recall n he performs series winning feats in his comeback, he is not likely to be dropped at all. A commanding performance next month in series with Australia wont impact his comeback in ODIs like the way its can in the CL... For that to happen, Dravid has to be for RCB what Sachin was for Mumbai Indians in the last IPL.
A great a great tournament, great teams, great opportunity... n u can expect greats like him to rise to the occasion. 'The Wall' needs to stand tall again!
