Club RCB Shines in Vijay Hazare Trophy
A domestic season already decorated with glittering performances from RCB stars is yet to be over. The annual Vijay Hazare tourney saw our stars turn on the heat in style. The in form Karnataka team maintained their momentum and qualified for the next round with some awesome performances from the RCB stars.
Robin Uthappa looks to be in good nick in the shorter format of the game as he got off his team to some flyers which resulted in wins for Karnataka. With the captaincy burden off his shoulder he seemed to be relishing his role of opening the batting as he scored a century (117) and 2 fifties. Manish Pandey was not be left far behind as he followed up a superb show at Duleep Trophy with 2 half-centuries with overall strike rate of close to 112 and an average of 49 for 5 matches. His flamboyant style is earning him quite a lot fans and he sure is knocking the doors for national selection. I will fail in my duty of cricket fan if I don't mention Ganesh Satish who is top scorer for this tourney all over India with a aggregate of 354 runs comprising of 2 match winning centuries and one fifty (Strike rate: 107 and average 88.5).
Other RCB stars who performed well in this Premier Domestic One-day Tourney are Sreevats Goswami who starred for Bengal with 2 centuries and S Sreeram who compiled a second highest total of 343 runs. Virat Kohli was also in good form for Delhi scoring 2 half-centuries. In all these performances augurs very well for the forthcoming season of IPL-2010. On the bowling front too RCB stars were not far behind as K P Appanna, Praveen Kumar and Vinay Kumar put up some good performances using their guile and skill to pick wickets as also be economic.
