Coach Ray's Preview before the game

The first thing that strikes you about Coach Ray Jennings is his intensity, and with RCB’s first game of IPL 2012 just a few hours away that intensity is burning brighter than ever. I caught up with Coach to find out his preview of the game today.

According to the coach the mood from a playing point of view is good but being the coach is a bit nerve racking especially when you are unsure about what kind of pitch you are going to get! The pitch has changed a lot since RCB last played here in September and since there hasn’t been much rain the pitch the difference is quite drastic, this makes it harder to get the right team combination and get the right tempo and intensity.

A lot of people are wondering if the Rain that Bangalore saw last night will affect the game, The Coach thinks the rain should stay away till end of the game and the little from last night won’t affect the pitch much but will only make an existing bad outfield even worse, The fielding will be critical today and with the drills the boys have been putting it Coach expects nothing less than world class fielding.

Media has been speculating a lot about the injuries on the team, Coach Jennings is a bit concerned, we do have a few worries right now the biggest one being Gayle and how exactly to play him, Playing him too soon we may risk aggravating his groin injury that puts him out for the rest of the season, But RCB has enough talent and we should be able to find a balance and rhythm soon.

I couldn’t resist asking Coach my biggest fear, RCB traditionally hasn’t been a great starter in the tournament , our first game is against Delhi who are high on confidence after their win over KKR is a tough ask, Trust Coach to put my mind at ease, he told me that in every tournament he has played in , he has been at the bottom at some point, this makes the team just hungrier to perform and that kind of drive propels the team to show everyone what they’ve got!

The coach’s message to the team before they go out is simple, this is a team that wants the trophy this year and they will put all the effort needed to make that happen, He hopes the fans will stick by the team through good times and through the rough patches, If you bleed red continue to do it, Cheer the team and motivate the boys, He promises that RCB will play as a Professional unit and earn the respect of its fans!I’m hoping a little Lady luck will make the difference, I’m gonna be cheering on my boys at the Chinnaswamy stadium ..ARE YOU?
