Cometh the hour, riseth the Force RCB!

When the going gets tough, RCBs wake up, kick some butt and enthrall the packed Chinnaswamy stadium with a performance that inspires as much as it reassures the fact that they truly are a force to reckon with.

Just done with seeing the (well read it as imagining) the highlights of the last night’s game. A performance as clinical as it gets. I loved the second innings as much as the first one. Strange considering most of us would love to bat or if we have no option watch our favourite team bat. When one is following a team that bats as strongly as RCB does, I wouldn’t blame you if you are one of those who love to see your favourite batsmen smash the bowlers out of the park. So for me, when Kallis ran into bowl despite niggle in the rib, it made for some passionate viewing. The mighty old robust man can still make the batsmen hop with his pace and has kept his date with the force that can get you more wickets in T20 than just the pace- guile. Now this guile business has traditionally been a forte of spinners who bowled on benign tracks plundered by heavy bat wielding marauders otherwise known as batsmen.

I would love to flight this one up to our team analyst Prasanna- does he have numerical evidence that proves that spinners are a more potent weapon in the shortest form of the game? I guess so.

Yesterday’s game was no exception. Once Kallis had got rid of top three Otago batsmen, it was left to spinners to clean up the platter. I could distinctly hear Jumbo and Roofy let out a satiated burp once they were done with polishing the rest of the side. Roofy got a bit of a bite and some turn, good enough to turn the tables against the opposition. I want to run a test with with Jumbo. I will wake him up at 3 (flights of fancy! ;-) ), ask him to measure his run up (man! I m having fun now! ;-P ) and ask him to hit the top of off after landing it around middle and leg. I have a feeling. He “might just” do it. Ok,no offence to Jumbo fans. He “will” do it. ;-)

Right. Batting ten on ten. Bowling ten on ten. Fielding, with all those glares from Jumbo, was superb too. Cometh the hour, riseth the team. RCB, once shaken, twice stirred :-) They are well and truly on course now.

Smart Harsha: Jumbo gave one of those menacing looks to the fielder after a small goof up. Harsha was commentating and he narrated a quote by Sachin Tendulkar. “For some strange reason I am the only one who is exempt from that look.” Proves two things. Kumble has a fast bowler’s temperament. Two, we all have a soft corner for our little master. Jumbo, included.
