Euphoria of a Hundredth Hundred
Great Player, Century of centuries, Carrying the million+ indian fans on his shoulder. All these words can only describe the master. Let's relive moments of magic.
It was a busy afternoon to many people, be it in office, at home or outside. As soon as the news spread about Sachin closing in on the century, no work, no food, this is only possible in india and only made possible many a time by the great man.
Form
Before his 100th master class, team had a pretty bad australia tour, but sachin himself was in good form. Everytime i had a look at his strokeplay it seems inevitable that he would get there. Sheer anticipation of 100th century was huge, mostly during lunch time someone would muster, yes he will get there today, but somehow he wasnt destined, not for his poor form, just a good ball or some bad luck.
Magical Moments
Those magical moments should never be forgotten by any indian, those 15-20 minutes when he moved from 80's to century will surely be etched in my memory.
As it happened (with me),
@ 1:30 - Indian Batting starts, talk again of a century by sachin starts. People speaking abt how he plays for records (and how i argued with them that he doesnt) and soon. Few people betting lunches and dinners and some contradicating that.
@ 3:00 - He scores a half century, something which hadnt done in last half a dozen plus ODI innings. I remember pinging my colleague when he was on 26*, 44*, 87*
@ 4:15 - It was time to go away from work, he was on 87. Crowd gathered and speculations were rife that he will not get the 100 (I kept thinking this was his day). Some people said , oh no not on 99, some people didnt went to experience the nervous and moved away. People continued to contemplate, if u dont get this now, u may get one against kenya.
SACHIN Got a Hundred and all those people who were speculating, thinking he was playing for records, clapped with open hearts. Thats the greatness of the man ..
We lost the Match
Sad we lost the match, however whole of media and even papers didnt had a mention of that, rather it concentrated on Sachin's 100th 100, it as a rare thing i noticed, but a welcome change. We focus and criticize our a team a lot when they lose and get fanatic when they win, however we should stop criticizing as winning and losing is part of the game. I saw a welcome change (even though the loss was overshadowed by a huge milestone).
ALL in ALL Congrats to Century ka Badshah and hope no one even gets close to this milestone, but even if they do they can never match the honesty and gentelmanship of the great master.
