Home conditions - Favourable or not
India losing mumbai test badly reminds me of how conditions in your favour backfires, thats cricket and we need to start accepting it ..
Remember the days when :
Teams were unbeatable at home
Visiting teams took lot of time to adjust
Teams like India, Australia, SL have very good records at home.
It has changed now, people have lot of exposure. IPL has brought that change plus confidence and adapting faster to a new country which has contrasting conditions (both pitch and weather) - See how NZ are playing in the ongoing test against SL
Is too much favourability good :
When we lose its arguable, but the manner in which we lost makes the argument more stronger
Opposition bowlers are smarter now and they know how to exploit conditions (Panesar and swann easily outshined our spinners)
Positive batting, scoring at a strike rate of 85-90 in tests can take a game away from you. Indian batsman need to take the cue from KP’s innings.
What next?
With everyone gunning for Tendulkar’s retirement, this is quite a hard time for indian cricket.
Always believed that we can come back strong especially at home
There is no revenge series concept. Whenever it has been coined our team hasnt lived to the expectations, perhaps that puts extra pressure on us or the opposition takes advantage of under dog status. (When NZ graced us with grassy pitches before 2003 WC - return series to India was coined as revenge, look what happened to that series)
Test matches finishing in 3 days?
We dont expect rank turners do we? A pitch that takes turn after 3rd day is fine
Should be fair for the batsman and for poor fast bowlers
Are we developing right attitude amongst our youngsters by developing slow/spinning tracks
All in all a sorry performance, but i never expected india to win 4-0 did i? So i wont predict what happens in the next two matches, but would like to say we need better performers and fighters (way SA showed everyone other day)
