How RCB made it to semis. The flashback of IPL 2010.

A flashback of IPL 2010. The way the RCB made it to semis. Each and every encounter in brief. The records, the winning moments and the losing sad moments.

In
the beginning of this
IPL season, RCB had 3
clear
advantages over their start to the campaign in South Africa

1) Kumble was a
fixed leader for the entire tournament, unlike the uncertainty that
surrounded
last year.

2) The local boys
Manish, Mithun, Goswami and Vinay Kumar had excelled in their domestic
tournaments and were in form.

3) RCB had great
confidence to enter the tournament as they had given a successful climax
for
the last year's league.

The first
match vs KKR:
It was a disappointment for RCB, the things din't
go in
our favor. The opening pair of Goswami and Kallis dint shine. The best
thing
was Kallis had started to be a contender in the ORANGE CAP STANDINGS in
the
first match itself. He scored 65 of 52 while others on non strikers end
went
back to dug out.

The
second match vs KXIP:
It was a great come back for RCB. One of
the greatest
chase in t20 game. We chased down the target of 204 with more
confidence.
Kallis's 89 of 55 balls and the blazing 50 by Robin in 21 balls made the
team
and fans a great confidence for looking for a great league.

The third
match vs RR:
The headlines goes like this: THE DOMINANT RCB CRUSH
RR. In the
last match our batting crew had crushed the KXIP. Now it was bowlers who
showed
the same home crowd their power and skill with the ball. RR were bowled
out for
just 92 runs with Jumbo's excellent 3/9 spell. The opening pair Pandey
and
Kallis scored this small target in mere 10.4 overs.

The
fourth match vs MI:
A crucial one, RCB vs the unbeaten MI,
1st and 2nd rank clash, Vinay and Steyn picks
3 wickets each and restricts MI for 151. And remember Kallis is still
not got
out even once yet. He scores a 66 even here and now we top the table.

The fifth
match vs CSK:
As the opening pair comes out. The only aim of the
opposite team
was to fill the dash(-) in Kallis's average box. The orange cap holder
couldn't
lead this time. The dashing Uthappa scored 68 of just 38 deliveries, he
had
tried his switch couple of times in this match. But his last few overs
knock
won us the match. Vinay Kumar picked up 4 but was too expensive. But RCB
are
unstoppable now after 4 in a row.

The sixth
match vs DD:
Had lot of expectations and the country had come to
know RCB are
really strong one to beat. DD had lost three games before they came into
this
match. But they defeated our mighty RCB. No one could fire on this bad
day. All
batsmen returned back except a small contribution by our young guns
Kohli(38)
and Pandey(39).

The
seventh match vs CSK:
The biggest news in the city was KEVIN and
TAYLOR are
back in to the team. Kevin played instead of morgan, Ross had to warm
the
benches. This was one more bad day in our journey. Kallis made 52 of 49.
The
target that was set by our team was considerable because of our 3 quick
guns.
ROBIN, KEVIN and WHITE. But Vijay blasted our bowlers and gave CSK a
vital
victory.

The
eighth match vs KXIP:
We had to win this after two losses. The
target set by
our opponents was 181. We lost Kallis and Pandey little early, KP played
the
anchor role on this day instead of Kallis. He hit 66 of 44. And the most
crucial knock was again by ROBIN 22 from 8 without which RCB might not
have
chased this big total. He was now in TOP 3 of highest number of sixes in the tournament list. It was an other loss for Sloppy Punjab.

The ninth
match vs DD:
The team management made many experiments. They sent
White
opening, they brought in Mithun and Appanna. All the experiments by RCB
and
active fielding by DD won this game for them. Even here Kallis had got
an half
century and was leading the ORANGE CAP STANDINGS.

The tenth
match vs DC:
The IPL-2 finalists clash after an year. Kallis and
Kohli played
brilliantly who scored 68 and 58 each. But the opposite team bulls
couldn't be
stopped by our bowlers. Suman and Symonds kept DC alive in the
tournament.

The
eleventh match vs KKR:
We had a little pressure as we had lost 4
out last 5
matches. Our bowling crew restricted them to 161 with Vinay Kumar
picking up 3,
And now he was in top 5 contenders of PURPLE CAP STANDINGS. Quick knock
by
Dravid who scored 52 off 35 and Uthappa who scored 50 off just 22 gave
us a
convincing win.

The
twelfth match vs DC:
The lightning fast
bowler Dale Steyn picked up 3 early wickets which made their
score 14/3.
They somehow struggled and reached 151. It was a cakewalk for RCB. RCB
felt the
total is not too high and started with a little low pace. Dravid went
for 49
off 35. As the pressure started to build the big guns like white,
Taylor, Kohli
also walked back who couldn't handle the pressure. Robin had almost
brought us
back into the game with his quick knock 34 off 20 but one ball of
Harmeet Singh
spoilt our dreams.

The
thirteenth match vs RR:
It was a crucial match for both the
teams. Who
ever looses may forget the dreams of Semi Final berth. Our bowling and
fielding
department excelled and they were very dedicated to win this one, and
hence we
restricted them to mere 130. Kallis went for duck. Pressure was building
up.
But KP who was rested previous matches sent every ball out of the park
and the
PINK CITY WAS TURNED INTO RED AND GOLD as he scored 62 off 29. He won
all the
three awards for his performance on that night. KARBON KAMAAL CATCH, DLF
MAXIMUM SIXES and of course he was the MAN OF THE MATCH.

The last league match vs MI: It was a semi final decider. We win we are through to semis easily. Or we had to look for other teams NRR who played after this match. As we entered the match there was a disaster, low intensity bombs were fired outside our home ground. After the Karnataka Police made sure that there were no security issues. The match was started. MI gave us mammoth target of 191. It wasn't a big target for a side like RCB. But a bad day, couldn't make it. No batsmen could stay on the pitch for even for 25 runs except Kohli who made 37. Every one went for big ones found a fielder. We lost by 57 runs. Surely a bad day for RCB.

The two semis which were scheduled in Bangalore, was re-scheduled to Mumbai. It was really bad news for all Bangaloreans who had purchased tickets in hot sun.

Even after RCB had completed all their matches, they had to look for the results of the two matches played on Sunday. If Before match scenario: If CSK wins and DD vs DC match is washed out. RCB will be eliminated. But thank god the things went in our way.

Now RCB will play against MI in semis at Mumbai. It will again be a great clash. Though we lost them just this Saturday, Positive note is that we have once beat MI on their home ground in the beginning of the tournament.

And finally what I say being a fan is...

We are not just fans we are RCB fanatics. We cry when we loose, We party when we win. But what is same on both occasions is we use Kingfisher for both :)

Kingfisher to cry when we loose and the same Kingfisher to party when we win. :P :)
