Indian Cricket Team's Journey After (WC / Australian tour)
Injuries - Rotation Policy - 8 failures in test it has been a down ride, where are we going next ...
Asia Cup, IPL, T20 World Cup in SL are Indian cricket teams next assignment. Well this is our chance to get back our batsmen in form, our spinners will come to fore and take a lot of wickets on spinning tracks and all things in last few months will again be forgotten.
What if we had qualified to the finals in the CB Series?
What if we win asia cup and have a good run the t20 world cup?
Well all of us are typical indian fans and we generally over react, but we tend to forget things sooner than later. Essentially we dont have testing times ahead for most part this year and we have definitely done badly in the overseas tours, though we had all the potential to win.
What went wrong?
For me and i suppose many of you will agree, our batting was the biggest disappointments in all 8 tests/16 innings in England and Australia. Our bowling was always dependent on the batsmen piling huge scores even though we had few brilliant spells by Zaheer and co in past outside of india.
Sanjay Bangar and Rahul Dravid's amazing partnership in bowler friendly conditions @ Headingley
Laxman and Dravid's important partnership @ Adelaide and many more ..
We havent seen any such brilliance in the last 8 tests which is why perhaps we lost all of them.
Seniors or Youngsters?
Well, everyone is gunning at the seniors. In tests, middle order was doing the bulk of the scoring till now, which phased down considerably in the last many overseas tests.
Are the young players ready to replace seniors in tests? - Not right now. Time will come soon, but apart from kohli no one has showed the potential. Seniors should hang around till there are good enough replacements. Also it is very important to bid a good farwell to all the stalwarts and that includes all in the FAB 3.
Even in the ODI series the so called Rotation policy did give chances to youngsters but it ended no where and selectors showing faith in almost the same team for asia cup shows that our ODI form doesnt suggest us to go all out with youngsters for now.
All in all, India may win many tournaments in subcontinent, reality check will come soon when we visit overseas and if we dont perform in away tests it will take as many years to go to 1st Test spot as it did before.
