IPL 5 - Who will be the top 4
Delhi is consistently winning, KKR is looking fine but its musical chairs for all these 4 spots now.
IPL 5 has been very intriguing so far. Teams that started well havent continued there winning streak (Pune, Royals) and ones which started badly have won few matches lately (RCB, Chennai). Even Punjab and Mumbai who have been inconsistent are very much in the hunt and who knows Deccan may win 3-4 matches on the trot and be right back in the tournament. Only team which is playing very well is Delhi, they are making winning a habit even in tough situations like today against the royals.
Net Run Rate is the key - I think with teams having mixed fortunes, it may be 6 or 7 way tie for those 3 spots and that will mean net run rate would become a key factor.
RCB is low on Run Rate, with two matches coming at home this is time to not only win them but win them convincingly. We need to get more spunk in bowling and fielding, our batting is way too dependent on AB and Gayle, hope the indian batters including kohli will turn that soon.
Every match is key and teams that win atleast 8 or 9 matches with very good net run rate will go through. If we (RCB) continue to maintain current run rate we would need to win 9 atleast, which is 5 of the next 7 games. Two Games against MI and game against DD are very important, but every other game is important as well.
Its very important to note that there are playoffs which means teams qualifying 1 and 2 have a certain advantage, so every team would be trying to be in the top 2, to avoid playing two games to qualify for the finals. Also its the momentum and peaking at the right time, teams that win there next few matches comfortably and qualify have a chance to go all the way.
Lastly its anybody guess on which 4 will qualify, DD look to be almost there. Here is my pick of the top 4,
DD
KKR
RCB
Royals
Lets enjoy next two home matches and i would be happy if our team proves me wrong and qualify in the first or second place.
