is RCB now, title winning material?! Maybe...
4 matches since Gayle joined RCB and the team is on a 4 match winning roll! 2 centuries in 4 innings + crucial good bowling overs!! the most high impact player in this IPL and the main catalyst for RCB resurgence!! There was a Virender Sehwag master class the otherday (his knock against KTK was another gem) where he won it for DD from hopeless situation n he said in presentation that "players like Warner, Me, Gilchrist, Tendulkar... if we play so many overs, we can do anything". I guess Galye wanted to give a reminder that he too deserves to be in that list :P RCB can certainly maintain its precious last 4 position and even hope to win the league! :)
But lets have a look at the other side as well with comparing with title favourites MI, CSK. Remove Gayle factor from this team and it will seem very very ordinary. we cannot expect Gayle to fire all the time. Harris n Praveen showed yesterday that a moving new ball is uncomfortable for Gayle, n neither is he too good against quality spin variations (the leggie Sharma of Pune troubled him n even got him out) So Malinga, Harbhajan, Ashwin, Albie, Bollinger have well in them to get the better of Gayle, and tht could be a big blow like how Sehwag lost early is to DD. The good news though is that Virat n AB are in class form, and long batting including Tiwary, Vettori and can build a good total
What RCB now needs, is to balance battting n bowling more better. with Dilshan going (wonder why he was not replaced yet seeing his form), there is a foreign slot open. I suggest it be Charl Langavelt. Another change i would like making is remove Mithun (he just performs decent once in 4-5 matches) who is a opposition delight as he lifts so much pressure of them by leaking runs, and get back Mayank who will open with Gayle. Do not get fooled too much that RCB has turned a much better bowling team. its the Gayle, knocks that have put pressure on opposition chasing, hence they commit mistakes n give away wickets. RCB bowling first, is still a team very likely to conceed 180, or struggle to defend around 160, against the top 4 in the table. Zaheer is far from his consistent accuracy n wicket taking. So its more crucial to boost the bowling with a proven quality in Langavelt. Vettori is being wonderfull and the support of Aravind/Syed, Gayle will be pretty good. Asad Pathan looks so reckless n slogger kind. we could do with a better no.6. I guess he holds a position because he can bowl part time leg spin too.
With Dilshan gone, i would like to see RCB as Gayle, Mayank, Virat, AB De, Tiwary, Pujara, Asad/Kaif, Vettori, Zaheer, Langavelt, Aravind (Syed incase of slow turner)

by the way this is talking too far in the today points table standing. Qualifying is the first target.
