CLT20 Teams Research of 6 teams excluding the West Indies Team.

Champions League T20 Teams

Victorian Bushrangers

About: The Victorian Bushrangers is an Australian cricket team based in Melbourne that represents the state of Victoria.

Current Captain/Coach: Cameron White/Greg Shipperd

Home Ground: MCG

Team Uniform (Big Bash Tournament): Dark Blue

Website: http://www.bushrangers.com.au/

Major Victories:

·         Have won Sheffield shield titles in 2008/09, 2009/10 seasons

·         Have a great record at the recent KFC T20 Big Bash. They won the first 3 as well this year’s cup and hence qualified to the prestigious CLT20.

Watch out for:

Rob Quiney à Rob is the opening left hand batsman. He has been in good form off late and is the player to look out for.

AB McDonald à A Decent all-rounder who has been consistent with his performances in the recent matches. With Delhi Daredevils not qualifying to CLT20 he should be an automatic choice in the victoria squad.

Team Clashes:

ü  Captain himself, Cameron white has to decide between RCB and the team he leads. Hope it’s not so much of an obvious choice. (My Prediction – He will go with Victoria)

ü  Ross Taylor, an awesome batsman and a great asset to any team. He has multiple choices, let RCB be his best choice. (My Prediction – He will remain with RCB)

ü  Dwayne Bravo and Muttiah Muralitharan are the other players who will need to decide between there IPL Franchises and Victorian team.

Overall Team:

Victoria also qualified for the last years Champions League and made it to the semifinals. They have right balance of fresh, young players plus a good pool of experience Australian players like Brad Hodge and white.

Chevrolet Warriors

About: The Chevrolet Warriors is the name used by the combined Eastern Province and Border first class cricket teams in South Africa.

Current Captain/Coach:  Davy Jacobs/Russell Domingo

Home Ground: St George's Park, Port Elizabeth

Team Uniform: Green Black Combo

Website: http://www.chevroletwarriors.co.za

Major Victories:

·         The Chevrolet Warriors are the 2009/2010 MTN Domestic Championship and Standard Bank Twenty20 winners.

Watch Out For:

·         Colin Ingram à He is a left handed middle order batsman who has been around for last few years in the domestic circuit. He has a very good average of 30 and strike rate of around 130 in T20’s.

·         Nicky Bojeà He is veteran who was once a very good all-rounder in SA team. He has lot of experience in domestic competitions and will be a handful with both bat and ball in favorable and known conditions.

Team Clashes:

·         I think they have rarely played for their South African Warrior side due to international commitments. They have lot of international experience and will be really handy in their home conditions. (My Prediction – Both Kallis and Boucher should want to be with RCB).

·         Makhaya Ntini may want to play for Warriors as he was rarely given a chance in the Chennai Super kings team.

Overall Team:

This team has a mix of veterans not in the SA team, few at the twilight of their career. They may not be formidable on paper but with conditions in their favor they can cause a upset or two.

Wayamba Elevens

About: Wayamba cricket team is a Sri Lankan first class cricket team based in Kurunegala that represents North Western Province.

Current Captain/Coach:  Jehan Mubarak/ Manoj Abeywickrama

Home Ground: Welagedara Stadium

Team Uniform: Green Blue Combo

Website: http://www.srilankacricket.lk/

Major Victories:

  • Won the Inter-Provincial Limited Over Tournament 2007/08.

  • Won the Inter-Provincial Twenty20 thrice, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009–10.

Watch Out For:

·         DPMD Jayawardeneà He is a class act as everyone knows. He has been in wonderful T20 form, played some amazing innings for KXIP and also SL in World Cup.

·         Thissara Perera à He is an all-rounder of sorts. With his medium fast bowling and hitting prowess, other teams should watch out.

Team Clashes: None

Overall Team:

They have a good bowling attack with the likes of Mendis and Maharoof. Jayawardene is experience guy in there batting order which may look week unless youngsters propel. Need to play really well if they want to move into semis of the CLT20.

Central Stags

About: The Central Districts Stags are a New Zealand first class cricket team based in central New Zealand.

Current Captain/Coach: Jamie How/Dermot Reeve

Home Ground: McLean Park

Team Uniform: Green/Yellow Combo

Website: http://cd.nzcricket.co.nz

Major Victories:

·         Current Winners of HRV Cup.

Watch Out For:

·         Brendon Diamanti à He is one of future prospects in New Zealand Squad. Very good all-rounder capable of playing cameos as well as the ability to take quick wickets.

·         Mitchell McClenaghan à A very good pace bowler who has ability to flatten top order batsman and take key wickets.

Team Clashes: Ross Taylor is such a good player that I mention his name second time in this document. We should just hope that this classy kiwi plays for no one except RCB.

Overall Team:

Lot of new players in the set up I should say they are one of the underdogs. But with T20 specialist’s they can surprise anyone on their day.

Highveld Lions

About:  The Highveld Lions is the name used by the combined Gauteng and North West first class cricket teams in South Africa

Current Captain/Coach:  Alviro Petersen/Dave Nosworthy

Home ground: New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg

Team Uniform:  Yellow/Red Combo

Website: http://www.highveldstrikers.co.za/

Major Victories:

·         Winners of the Pro20 Series in 2006/07

·         Runners up of the Standard Bank Pro20 series this season.

Watch Out For:

·         Vaughn Jaarsveld à Very good T20 Average and Strike rate makes Jaarsveld a player for other teams to look out for.

·         E O’Reilly à I am not sure if he is linked to O’Reilly Book Publications, but he is a good bowler and prove handful in native conditions.

Team Clashes:  None

Overall Team:

Like the Warriors this South African team also has a good chance to make it to the last four. They have players who are experienced enough to produce positive results for their team.

South Australian Redbacks

About: The Southern Redback\\s, are also known as the West End Redbacks with their sponsorship agreement with local brewers West End, are an Australian first class cricket team based in Adelaide, South Australia.

Current Captain/Coach: Michael Klinger/ Mark Sorell

Home ground: Adelaide Oval

Team Uniform: Red/Black Combo

Website: http://www.cricketsa.com.au/

Major Victories:

Well I am wondering how these guys qualified. They were placed 4th in Big Bash T20 this year. Atleast some things in my research are mysterious J

Watch Out For:

·         Daniel Christian à Good with both bat and ball, Daniel has impressed many in the Domestic circuit.

·         Cullen Bailey à Whoever that say finding spinners outside subcontinent are right coz I just found one in my research. Look out for this Leg Spin Bowler, he just might make a impact this season in CLT20.

Team Clashes:  Pollard needs to decide between Mumbai and South Australia.

Overall Team:

Good team, few stars but Australian teams are always competitive right.

@Sachin: Good one mate. Lotsa info.
My prediction is Ross Taylor will opt for NZ side with a population so small as theirs they like to flaunt their local fervor and what better way to put NZ cricket on map if ROssy plays.

Also with tourney being held in SA I think Boucher for sure will represent his local side. Kallis is a 50-50 hope he chooses for opponents though ;-)

White will surly lead Victoria so I think we will be left a litlle thin team but WHEN GOING GETS TOUGH you know TOUGH RCB GET GOING !!!
