Kohli’s Special gives India a 2-0 lead
The 2nd ODI took place between India and West Indies in the Port of Spain, Trinidad. West Indies were once again put into bat by India.
The Struggling West-Indies:-
The openers were looking in good touch but once again it was short-lived.
Kirk Edwards once again failed to score big and got out at 25. The top 4 batted
on well for the West Indies as Simmons and Sarwan picked up half-centuries, but
the later order failed to capitalize on it as West Indies
went on to make just 240. There were some superb bowling performances by India. Munaf
Patel was getting better and better picking up 3 wickets and Mishra continued to haunt their batsmen picking up 4 wickets.
The Indian openers walked in to bat as West Indies
stuck the first blow as Dhawan fell for 3 runs. In came Virat Kohli who joined
Parthiv Patel. Virat played beautiful cricket right from the start. He defended a few balls when
needed and punished the bad balls as well as even good balls. Virat Kohli was
timing the ball perfectly. Even Parthiv, who was looking rusty, got inspired by
Virat Kohli and started to open up and played some lovely strokes. The rain kept coming in between
but this did not stop these youngsters as they were hungry for more. The
confidence kept building up and Virat Kohli reached his 50 in quick time.
A well deserved win:-
The rain had reduced the target needing 183 runs from 37 overs. Virat
Kohli’s heroics continued which left the Carribbean bowlers clueless as he became the player to join the club of batsmen making fastest 2000 runs in ODI. Parthiv
also notched up his Half-Century making 56 runs of 64 balls. Virat Kohli on the
other end was looking unstoppable. He reached 81 runs hitting 6 Fours and a
Six. Virat Kohli missed his Century by 19 runs but he played an excellent
knock. Raina and Rohit were left just to complete the formalities of good work
done by Virat Kohli and Parthiv Patel. Virat Kohli was awarded the Man of
the Match as India went on to win by 7 wickets gaining a 2-0 lead in the
