royal challengersMinds & Mics: Two explosive Challengers at work

Last evening we in for some media soiree when Dharma, Shireen and I, accompanied the players from Group B to a Live broadcast of the ESPN shoot followed by a cocktail party. It was our first time inside a broadcasting studio and we were gung ho about the whole experience. We travelled to the Sports Centre in Randburg with two explosive Challengers, Robin Uthappa and Ross Taylor, Mumbai Indian (Dwayne Bravo), Bushranger (Dirk Nannes) and a few Red Backs players.

Just before leaving for the event, a rather funny sight greeted us. Uthappa, egged by Praveen Kumar & Virat Kohli, check-mating a totally confused Ross Tayor. Playing the game of chess for the first time ever, little did Ross know that he would lose his ‘queen’ in the initial few moves, what followed was a volley of ‘checks’ and then a miserable loss. So now you know, Rossco needs lessons in chess. Any chess experts in the fan club?? wink

At the studios, Pommie Mbangwa interviewed a panel comprising cricket experts and players. Questions ranging from ‘why Ross chose RCB over his home team in the CLT20’ to ‘who were the promising young guns in the team’ But the one that amused everyone in the crowd was Taylor’s idea of a ‘hotspot’ that his Protean team mates had taken him to, The Nando’s, a famous fastfood eatery in SA. When it came to upping the humour quotient Robin beat Rossco hands down saying “We’re Indians, we find our way to the hotspots in the city"

After the interview it was time to dig into some food and drinks. While Taylor and Robin had a tough time to get me talking, Dharma was on a clicking spree and Shireen played my perfect defense by saying “She lets her blogs do all the talking” J
